So I initially wanted to drive to the top of a mountain to film a daily driver/overlanding rig walk around video. But as some of you know, the engine died on the way up. I decided to document what happened...

I'm Kind of confused. You mean to tell me you never popped the hood to check for loose connection? That would be basic 101 trouble shooting. I am glad it was not anything serious and it was resolved.

True, I still would have at least checked things out before freaking out and and walked down a road. Back in the day when cell phones did not exist you were your own roadside mechanic. I remember my father always having a too box and a few parts in-case of emergency like a spare belt, distributor cap, spark plugs and wires when going on a trip. This was even on a new car. Glad everything worked out for him and lesson learned.

Wow, So SHIT does happen in the woods. I think you could have trimmed down the video time to around 2 minutes. Nice rig.

Glad you got it sorted out. I can see how you wouldn’t have been able to see the disconnection due to it being under the cover.

No reason for people to be a dick here. He learned his lesson. He forgot to check underneath the engine cover. Luckily it was something simple, too bad he figured it out later instead of right away out on the trail. I consider myself pretty good at finding obvious things, but I’ve missed some stuff in my life that was right in front of my face.

Don’t be rude. That’s not how I like to make friends. He wasn’t complaining when it happened, I’m sure he was just flustered that his new truck took a shit.

I did pop the hood and checked for loose/chewed wiring, battery connections, and anything else that may have misplaced during the bumpy ride. I just forgot to look at the one place that would’ve showed me the issue... under the engine cover. Definitely a lesson learned.

Born 1981 , does that count? Not sure how that has anything to do with this, but I really feel like a buffoon thinking about it in hindsight. Of course a mod may cause the issue *facepalm.

Yeah, the one place where the issue was, doh!
Yeah, my first thought was “wtf”?

Hey, I've never installed an intake before and I'm glad you figured it out but I had a question when I saw your video. What connection is this and why does it seem to not cause any issues for you so far?

It’s hooked up. That’s a 90° fitting. That’s either PCV Hook Up or one of the coolant lines that leads to the throttlebody to warm it up. Without going out and looking at my truck right now it’s hard to tell. Either way it’s hooked up right.

Also just a tip to anyone out there installing an aftermarket intake, I’ve had issues with some of them popping loose at the hose clamps if it wasn’t a nice fit. Clean the inside of the rubber coupling and male part of the intake tube with rubbing alcohol before installation to remove any grease so it doesn’t slip out.

@KrokemOutdoors I'm JasonWilliam from your FB post.

I was thinking about sharing this with you, as a way to easily carry some of the gear we discussed. I'm not sure how well it would work out for you and your RTT but more food for thought:

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/bigjs-2019-tundra-sbn-build.39796/#post-1043476

and more setup to carry stuff

Dumb question here...How does the plastic engine cover come off? Does it just pop off and snap back on?

Just lift it up at the front and it pops off. There is a plastic type hinge at the back that you hook it into as a guide. Once you lift it up you’ll see how it works.
