Hi - I’m new. Temecula, CA. Grew up in North County.

    2017 CM TRD Off-road 4.7L

I mainly drive it on the freeway, but will be taking it to borrego and the like to explore and take photos. I want to be able to travel the washboard roads and mild woops without getting the living shit shook out of me. I am confused and could use a nudge in the right direction.

What I believe to be true:
    1. I need coil over shocks /w resi and if I can afford 2.5 inch
    2. If I am going to lift more than 2 inches, I need UCA’s
    3. Rear shocks should be 2.5 and also have resi, no lift required if running under a 34” tire
    4. If I want to run anything larger than a 34” tire I will need to chop the body
    5. I should do a diff drop and address the drive shaft angle.
    6. There is some magic formula that will allow me to get the proper wheel tire config, but every source says “we have no fucking idea if this will work”. Order expensive wheels and tires and cross your fingers. Hopefully it works out for you dude.
I am a fox fan. Plenty of good experiences in the past.

Considering the ultimate fox 0-3” lift available at Bilstein lifts.

I believe this will offer what I want, but is it overkill. I like the SCS Wheels, but I think I would have a fucking heart attack if one got scratched or something. They are spendy.

    I’m thinking:

    18x8.5 wheel with 295 70R18 KO2

Ok - advice please. I would really appreciate it.

So, a 295 would need the 25 offset. And if I lift it 2” I would not need the diff drop?

With this setup you may need to trim the plastic inner fender and remove the front "spats".

    Don’t forget better leafs.
If you have any kind of load you’re carrying you can’t go wrong with Deaver U748’s.

I went with fox 2.5s at 3", camburg UCAs and running 34" Nitto ridge grapplers. They had to do some light chopping. Not a big deal really but even the installer said he wasn't expecting it. Why are you going for the fox 2.5 coilovers in the back instead of fox 2.0s? Save a little coin there maybe... Then again I don't plan on carrying anything particularly heavy just camping / hunting / adventure gear.
Best advice I can give is have a plan B for your build list just in case.

Thanks, the 2.5 shocks are included in the kit.

Welcome to the club, from the I.E.
Fox 100%, the kit looks perfect for what you described.
For wheels, you should hit up @osidepunker for some legit Rock Warriors, he's got some for sale at a good price...for an amazing wheel

What up homie! I'm in Temecula also! Hit me up we'll grab a beer and talk trucks

    You need to get:
Fox 2.5 race series coilover. It will need custom valving which I can help with
    Total Chaos upper control arm
    Fox rear 2.5 remote resi
35" tires, I like cooper STT Pro if you want heaviest duty tire, BFG KO2 if you want all terrain. You can fit a 35" tire with a little plastic trimming, you wont need to cut eh body mount if you run wheels with positive offset like rock warrior wheels, +50mm 17x8.

Anyways, hit me up if you want to talk more. I went through everything you're going through right now, only I did all this back in 2013. Check out this thread: https://www.tundratalk.net/forums/tundra-build-logs/369033-truck-osidepunker.html

Deaver U748s don't ride very well. I've had several friends try them and ditch them.

2.0 is not enough for our trucks they will overheat quickly and the seals will fail.

They've gone back to the K37 or SUA I96. They just have Jeff build them with a higher load rating. The U748 are too progressive for a good ride, linear spring rate works much better, but you can't vary the weight too much. Also, the U748 doesn't hold up long term with higher loads and they start to sag. That said, U748 is an improvement over stock leafs for sure.

Do you know how much load they were carrying, if they carried it all the time and for how long it did last?

I don't know specifically how much weight, but you can ask @n2deep and @Spolar . There are a couple others in our group as well, but I can't remember who off the top of my head

When I had my rtt and rack, I was running 1 full size spare, 10g h2o, 10g fuel, camping gear, tools, and wood for trips. I still have the u748s and run 2 full size spares, 20g fuel/h2o, camping gear, and tools. If I took a wild guess I’d say maybe 500lbs total when I bring the kitchen sink. And no the leafs aren’t the smoothest, and I had them re-arched and an extra leaf added for weight after only 2 trips.

Found all except add a leafs and diff/carrier bearing spacers on Amazon, free shipping and a 500+ savings. If it looks good I will order. Then start a build thread. Thanks for your help. I knew someone local would chime in. I’ve built plenty of stuff, but man information overload on all this.

My apologies to SCS. I only just realized that they are quite expensive if you have EIGHT of them in your cart.

SCS, your wheels are very reasonably priced and I will be calling you next week to discuss offsets and what not.

    Again, I do apologize.

Done, couple weeks and we will. Thanks for your advice.

Question. Will the SCS Ray 10s work with a 34” tire. Also looking at the black rhino aresenal and armory wheels. I can’t justify 500 plus for the TRD wheels.

The only Ray 10 I saw with a 5x150 was 9" wide. Thats too wide

Get some Methods. Only $200 or so. The 701 and 702 have the correct hub bore and are 8" wide. They have an aggressive offset so you may need a cab chop, but thats only a few hundred and I know a guy that will take care of you. Heres mine with the 701s and 37s:
