I agree. I'm loving mine. Dont pay 1400. I got mine for 800 and installed it myself. I have the control module, the camera module, and a bypass.

Oh ok, right I knew about that part. That's why I put on the bypass, it kicks you out of Dex/HDMI when you start driving.

Looking at purchasing this hi for my truck. I have the column shifter. Can anyone tell me how far the front of the screen is from the dash? The tundra column shifter is so long I’m worried it won’t work in my truck.

Hello everyone, first time poster here. I just picked up a 2019 Platinum Tundra and so far I love it and think its def an upgrade from my previous 2018 Ram Laramie.
However, I'm not thrilled with the back up camera resolution and with the fact that it has no Carplay. I am looking into installing this Alpine headunit but would like to ask couple questions to those who have it :
how is the backup camera resolution? does it track?
is warranty voided when changing head unit?

    Thanks in advance

Backup cameras are 480p, this display is 480p. The backup camera resolution is not great. That being said, how often do you look at your backup camera?
I believe our backup cameras have lines in them already, so you can either enable or disable the lines on the Alpine. I don't know if it has steering tracking.

Warranty is not void when installing a head unit. Warranties on cars are handled differently. It is not a single thing.
If you broke something because of the head unit install, they wont fix it for free. They also wont fix your after market head unit.
But if your engine breaks you wont be out of luck.

There are no turning guides... Those would be your side mirrors. The OEM camera has a grid in the video. Then you can overlay the Alpine to match or simply turn it off. I never depend on the rearview camera for anything except distance to a wall, and the radar warns me plenty about that too. I back into my driveway which is an "S" pattern with a slight downhill and large rocks flanking the bends... I use my side mirrors only. I honestly think the only reason to look at the backup camera is to see clearly what's directly behind you or in your blind spots... That's it! Check it, then use your mirrors. I don't think the resolution is great at all in the Alpine, but I am not disappointed because it serves it's purpose, you can see what is there.

Turn lines on these backup cameras are just eye candy. If you were to use them exclusively to back into a spot, I am sure you would hit something. Totally useless feature that I would not base my purchase on.

This is for the OEM or aftermarket cameras?

I’m deciding between this alpine one, pioneer 8500 and the Tesla style. Don’t know which I want.

    Caution, My Opinion Only:

    1. I _highly_ recommend against the Tesla style because knobs to adjust air conditioning don't kill people. Touchscreens do.
    2. Also A knob is tactile, and fast. Digital buttons are not.
    3. Alpine has a big and great reputation, the tesla radios do not.
    4. I don't trust Android operating system security.
I had a Pioneer NEX in the past, was not happy, had reliability and performance issues.

The Alpine 207 is another cheaper alternative.

    Kenwood 906S is another choice.

That's the only thing I miss from my OEM radio is the volume knob. The alpine has capacitive touch buttons....however steering wheel controls work perfect

Yeah, losing the volume knob sucks. Learning the SWC is fine. Sony makes a CarPlay unit that has a knob, but its less-good IMHO.

Any ILX F309TND user here or did everyone just buy the F309? I want to know if the secondary display functions and displays song info, thanks!

I had a long phone call with iDatalink Maestro support last night. The Alpine Perfect Fit units such as the F309TND have a modifier version of the Maestro firmware. It is locked out of having certain features changed. When I went to flash mine to disable factory amplifier (something James let me know about because otherwise fade wouldn't function) I saw that the secondary display functionality was disabled (and could not be enabled). Hence the question above.

I am not super motivated to rip my dash apart and find out I dont have the functions I bought the unit for. It is kinda insane because Alpine's website specifically states secondary display.

There is also no limitation of the F309, and on a vanilla Maestro, these features can be enabled and function just fine.

    I'll be calling Alpine today.

    ---

For future readers: ILX-F309TND shipped with Maestro firmware v2.2, current available firmware was v2.6

The ALP- prefix on the maestro hardware means you have a special Maestro unit that Alpine handles all the firmware builds etc. Maestro is not able to provide as good of tech support on these units because they are "locked".

Did you buy the ILX-F309TND or just the ILX-F309. If you got the vanilla ILX-F309, which dash kit did you use, Metra or Scosche? It looks lined up perfectly, there are some images where that is not the case.

Just had mine installed with Maestro MRR Idatalink and HRNRRT02 harness for the toyota tundra. Everything seems to work well and overall i'm happy with the unit. Def an upgrade not only in features but in sound quality as well.

Was told TND means everything required for "diy" is included in the kit. The head unit is the same, idatalink cables included. The higher price is due to the dashboard piece which seems to be of better quality than the Metra brand. The Metra kit doesn't line up perfectly and does not quite match the color tone however, the difference is minor and it really doesn't bother me at all
