Can people that had experience with head units that are not the tablet thing or Joying chime in?

Joying seems more appealing thank the tablet but there's got to be others. Is there just a simple solution for Android mirror?

I tried searching but I want to specifically exclude those two for comparison. I might be more open to Joying so if there is good feedback on those that's great too but looking at others.

So this is not what you are looking for?
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/dasaita-android-head-unit.45126/

A couple of us have installed the Dasaita head unit and so far I have had no issues with it.

I've only had for about 10 days, but so far so good. It is quick and snappy and since it is Android, I can basically do unlimited customization. Android Auto/Apple Carplay works well and you still retain all factory controls on the steering wheel. Makes the stock speakers louder and sound a little better. Still retains backup cam functionality and you also have the option to install a second camera. Install is easy with the plug and play canbus you have to get with it. The thread I linked in post #2 will tell you everything you need to get/know. All this for less than $550.

Yep I love mine. Its what should have come in the truck stock. It fits the space well. And has been pretty great. I think I'm about 3-4 weeks in on it? I added a front camera and you can view them both at any time. Having Waze every morning has been nice. It does make the stock non JBL speakers sound better. I got the version with DSP. The only small gripe I have is, having to hot spot my phone every time has been draining my battery. But You could easily get a USB Sim card modem to take care of that. Let me know if you have any questions!

I love my Dasaita. Once I saw it on another members truck and that it had CarPlay - I knew it was going to happen.

I have a 2nd Gen (2007) so due to the age of my truck , I cannot access TPMS or Fuel Info from the onboard CANBUS interface. But I didn't have that before, so no big deal.

I have the JBL system and it has really made my speakers/sub come alive.

Since I use CarPlay for nearly everything, all connectivity/data comes through my phone while receiving a 0.4a charge to keep its battery up. I too added a front facing camera and added a tailgate camera since it did not come on my 07'.

I wouldn't change a thing and everyone that gets in the truck has the same words come out of their mouth - 'Whoah!"

Can you give a photo between the user interface and console? i am curious of how much dust will collect and the looks if peeking behind the curtain.

    Thanks.

What year Tundra do you have? Yes, you will need the dash trim kit. Just get the cheapest you can find. I went with gloss black. I personally like it better than the silver. The coaxial adapter and one of the Maestro adapters will let you use the factory GPS antenna. The Axxess USB will allow you to use the factory USB port to connect the Android Auto/Apple Carplay dongle. After you order the Dasaita unit from Amazon, message them through Amazon and they will make sure to send the correct canbus for your model Tundra.

EDIT: The dash trim kit is probably specific to GEN2 and GEN3 so make sure you get the right one.

Okay, so this is what you would need in addition to the other items you listed (gloss black):
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I6408I6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00

    If you want silver:
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DFSPUOY

This is what mine looks like behind the screen (pardon the dust/pollen).
    20190516_111924.jpg

EDIT: One other thing, you will lose the CD player. It will however provided 2 extra USB connections that you can route into the glove box. Then just run USB sticks or external drives with your music/videos.

guys, I'm really leaning this way... what about the Max6 this supposedly out or coming out? Does anyone have specs on that to compare? If I'm going to swap these out I'd like to make the right decision.

The Max 6 won't work for you because that one is specifically for GEN2.

I currently have the tesla style unit in my 2015. I like it but it has a few issues and would like to know if this unit has same problems. If anyone has the Dasaita unit that could answer the following I would much appreciate it:

Does the music (radio, music off usb, etc) continue playing when you move between screens?
Does the radio support RDS for song title/artist where applicable?
Does the backup camera look decent on this? The tesla style unit has a bit of "stretched" look but also more grainy compared to stock.
Does the factory handsfree mic work or is there a way to add one without having to solder on the unit?

    Thanks in advance.

The music does continue to play switching between windows. At least the FM radio does. The FM radio does not stop until you fully exit the app.

I'm not sure what RDS is, but the FM radio does display song titles/artists where applicable.

The backup camera looks grainy on the Dasaita. It's more of a Toyota camera resolution than a Dasaita resolution problem. More grainy, but useable.

The Dasaita comes with a hands free mic. It just plugs into the unit via 3.5mm jack. Here is what mine looks like:

Did you notice most of the sound came out of the center speaker and that changing the listening position only adjusts that speaker?

All my speakers sound balanced and when I adjust the position it correctly moves it...the only thing I don't like is that on volume level 1, it is still too loud for a conversation with my wife.

Ok thanks, sounds like I have to take my PAC RP4 module back out and play with the gain and / or connect it to a PC and adjust it with PAC's app....
