Brakes

I tow a rv need to replace brakes and rotors. Just wondering would the drilled and slotted rosters be better then the solid ones?

 

I've heard a lot of good things about the Powerstop Z36 brake kits. I haven't used them myself (still on original brakes at 40K miles), but I did help my father in law install a set on his Ram 1500 about 2 weeks ago and he really liked them.

Worth a look. I'll likely go this route when I need new brakes.

 

I use and have been using brakemotive on all my cars and trucks for years. Drilled and slotted and ceramic pads. Search eBay for brakemotive.

 

I used Powerstop rotors and pads on my last truck all the way around. Definitely a big improvement over OEM braking and rotors did not warp after a couple years in New England. I plan on buying a set once my current rotors wear out. Some reviews claim to have a fitment issue; we will see.

 

Power stop drilled and slotted rotors warped on me within the first 4 months.
Couldn't stand it any more and got the EBC blank disc/ pad kit. should be swapping them over this week.

 

Did you follow the bedding procedure when they were installed?

PROPER PAD BEDDING CAN PREVENT ROTOR WARPING. The break-in procedure is critical to brakeperformance. The reason for a proper break-in is to establish an even layer of friction material deposited on the rotors from the brake pads. It is very important that this initial layer of friction material is evenly distributed

 

Yeah I went off the power stop procedure.

 

I have the Power Stop Z36 kit and I am very happy with it.

 

MGM's don't really need good quality brakes since they rarely hit the speed limit. I hear AutoZone runs a $9.99 brake pad special just for the MGM's. .

OP and I both have white Tundras and therefore need some high quality stuff.

 

That shade looks much closer to MGM than White.

So white needs a turbo? MGM is fast while being naturally aspirated.

 

Please we all know inferno is by far the most badass color and fastest.




Oh and I put the drilled and slotted powerstop from autoanything on my ‘11 taco and they were great. I’ll probably put them in my Camry soon and tundra when needed.
