Not sure why some of the links for AliExpress don’t work. See attached if the links work.

I’ll be fish out of water here as I drive a second generation Tundra (2007)

As far as I know I’ll be the first to put it in a 2nd gen, but boy would I be happy if someone else was first.

After some negotiating with Dasaita they gave me a pretty good package deal.

Android 9.0 Headunit with dual processors (dual core CPU and quad core CPU) 4/64gb RAM

Canbus Adapter for Toyota (I can only assume it fits 2nd and 3rd gen Tundras - I’ll let you know)

Apple CarPlay Dongle so you can run CarPlay from the HU

    $480 shipped

    Link:

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QV6RQ4N?ref=myi_title_dp

Thanks to 916Tundra for letting us discuss, research and troubleshoot a LOT in his build thread.

To me this headunit is better than the Secane / Tesla units, but that’s pure opinion

I had to do quite a bit of messaging back and forth with Dasaita through Amazon. They just needed to make sure that I am getting the right Canbus/harness (which is not a bad thing). Apparently it will be different than @minter66 canbus/harness. I told them that I knew the CB004 Toyota Canbus will work for my vehicle, but they still needed me to send pictures of my dashboard. Hopefully they received my photos and can confirm then ship.

Thanks again @minter66 for the deal you negotiated.

Happy to save other members money on a newer unit, granted you can save roughly $60 buy getting the 8.0/8.1 unit.

Also I did send them a picture of my dash and the back of the radio connectors (eBay auction photo of same radio) so hopefully the matched it up correctly

For those who needs to send them a back photo of the factory HU, use this.

In your audio thread, you mentioned that you had the non-JBL system correct? It's probably just poor wording on Dasaita's part, but you found that the CB004 Canbus works with the non-JBL system as well?

Also, I found this gloss black version of the dash kit for "Gen 3". A little cheaper. Couldn't find the share button to get a link on the mobile app so a screenshot will have to suffice.

I like to think of it as only $60 more dollars for a newer unit.

Yes I have a non JBL. Dasaita should have word it “JBL compatible”. The canbus should work with both systems.

    My order has shipped!

Since I have traffic and weather on the OEM head unit (no nav), I'm assuming I already have a GPS antenna?

I'm attracted to this as well, but if I'm honest with myself, 99% of my listening consists of my own owned music from a USB. I just set it to random and let it go...

I'm hoping it will make my factory speakers sound a little better without having to replace them. Also, built-in Google Maps will be nice since I dont already have nav and the ability to add a second camera.

It will sound better but I think you should upgrade your speakers as well. Factory speakers suck in my opinion. Look on top of your roof to see if you have the GPS antenna.

Thanks! I've got one then. Eventually the speakers will be replaced. Others mods are being prioritized over the speakers.

    +1

Tech12Volts Group Buy on 7 speakers and 4 tweeters for $320 was so worth it. Came with big MDF mounting brackets, and any connectors that one might need. Depth difference between dash corner stock speakers and Infinity Reference from James:

    IMG_1474.jpg

The door speakers looked so cheap when I took them out. Everything what we got:

    E97A0029-F345-43E0-A79E-66A49A26DCFC.jpg

For others who didn't, definitely jump on it if the Group Buy comes back. The Android HU boosts loudness. The upgraded speakers make the dash even more alive and overall clarity lets you hear sounds you never noticed in your music. This is without upgrading the amp.

    The planets have aligned:

    My radio gets delivered Thursday
Wife is taking BOTH kids out of town to Oklahoma for the weekend.

I will be able to knock out every project on my truck this weekend, including the radio, so hopefully I’ll report back good news

I would have done the speaker group buy, but I had already spent 3k in other mods at the time. Hopefully I can take advantage the next time.

Yes! An install thread. Happy to answer any questions. Having the Waze app every morning is nice. I feel like it fits the truck well. I still need to look in to getting a USB modem... It's not that bad starting my hot spot every time I get in but i prefer convenience.

Hey @jmevis i thought that you just plugged your phone in every time you get in the car and use android auto to mirror your phone on the HU. That way there is no need for the HU to use your access point. Or am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

I have an iPhone. So car play works, I installed the USB adapter to use the factory USB port in the center console and hid the carplay dongle behind the HU. But I don't like cables so I end up not physically connecting my phone to the HU. Thus... hotspot.

got it ... thanks. So I am assuming with the canbus, install was like 30 mins? Seriously considering this ... I have the Frac Camera so I am hoping I could just use the plug and play harness TundraTex did to the Canbus. I like the idea of physical buttons to jump from Front Camera to Rear Camera to HU on the fly. I know when I use it now ... it totally throws off my GPS even when I just switch it for a couple of seconds. Wonder if it will do the same thing with this HU. Well this HU is a lot faster so it would retrack faster I suppose. Thanks again.
