What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Auto anything said these wouldn't arrive until the end of May. They lied.

 

My touch up paint doesn't match either. I just use it to prevent rust.

To answer your question, you really need to do it all in the same day or weekend. Once you drive you'll pick up road gunk in your paint.

One option is to do one body panel at a time. You still need to do the entire process but not the entire truck. Wait till the #7 comes in and knock out the hood. Just keep in mind you'll have to rewash it each time you start a new section.

That rattle can big box stuff is real easy to work with and leaves a nice lightly textured finish. I’ve have great success with using the rattle can Textured Stuff (excellent bond) and then following up with rattle can Rustoleum finish coat (your color choice) on top of it.

I’ll be pulling my plastic bedliner up soon for inspection and will be using the Texture Bedliner Spray before reinstall of plastic liner. The liner actually stiffens up the metal. It works well on floor mats, too.

 

Did a filter change with just over 2k miles on the Mobil1 Regular Synthetic.

Added the CeraTec Liqui Molly Ceramic Friction Additive (1-300ml) bottle. 163,170 miles.

Next oil change in 1k miles.

 

I'll post a full write up when I'm back on a computer but I do NOT recommend ordering a Denso Radiator from Amazon. I'm sending this "made in China" back. I ended up buying one from O Reilly. I'm not thrilled about that but it honestly looks better than the Denso and has a lifetime warranty.

 

How long have you been using liquid moly? I’ve only heard good things about it. I’ve been considering using it in my bmw it’s at 80,000 miles is there a certain mileage range where one should start using it?

Figured I'd try to do something productive on this rainy Saturday. It was an ideal time to see if I could save the 30 to 50 bucks on ebay, or even 300 bucks at the stealership. Pulled the cup holder out by removing the two small screws in the sides of the cupholders. I then inspected and figured out where it broke and what it was supposed to look like before it broke. Had some epoxy and super glue leftover so I didn't have to make any runs for any supplies. I then maneuvered the broken piece back into place and mixed up the epoxy and then applied liberally. I then used the super glue on the other side, I didn't know which one would work better. I let those both cure while I went exploring in our national Forest.
When I returned I was able to finesse the two springs back into their original home. That took awhile! The following is the outcome, that I'm pretty pleased with.

You would rather a specter radiator from orileys versus a stock denso??? Why are you going that route... Aslo I understand for the warranty aspect but just curious on the brand choice

I know you are being sarcastic, but some of the complaints out there on the net mirror your statement.

My favorite reviews of products are the one where they say how nice the packaging looks (looks good in box!), but never report back on the performance of said product.

 

This radiator thing has him flustered.

 

Try some PB Blaster ‘Silicone with Teflon’ spray on those runners. Worked wonders for me. Work best AFTER the spray dries.

All I did to my tundra was put gas in it. I actually drove it on interstate at higher speeds yestersay for 1st time since I did all the upgrades. Went to Freightliner in Cola SC to get my new airsprings for my Class A motorhome. Drove and rode good. Really liked the new pioneer radio. Had phone hooked up and did a couple of ole Eagle alblums . Took it easy‍

 

Used their Oil Flush last fall with success. This is my first time using the CeraTec. The Big Gurl reviews were outstanding which is why I went with it.

Most comments were about older model vehicles with loud engines or ticks or running a little rough. (None of which the 02’ has). Porsche and BMW guys seem to say this product helps many of their problems and bring back that fine tuned sound when new.

My reason for purchasing it was to experiement with ekking out another .5 to 1.5 mpg per many of the reviewers comments. Supposedly, the ceramic glaze that fills the piston walls lightens the friction for 30k miles. Some commentors (nerds) stuck scopes down in through the plug hole and said they could see the glaze.

At about $15 a bottle its worth it if I even get .5 extra mpg for the next 30k.

Depending on your BMW condition, you may want to do another type of pre-treatment prior to this. Check out all their products and see whats best for you. In my case, the engine sludge is basically reduced from the engine flush in the fall and the Synthetic Oil doing its thing since after that. I did add this into 2k old oil, which they ‘recommend’ using fresh oil, but its not mandatory. This glaze bakes on after 250 miles or so per commentors. Thats also when they realize how much quieter their engine becomes.

I’m just tinkering now after getting most things tightened up on the 02’ over the year. Will report back on results.

What's going on man, can you tell me which two screws you removed from the cup holder? Mine is filled with dog hair from the PO and I can't clean it without taking the whole thing out. Never figured out how to do it though.

 

No, this definitely not what I wanted but the Denso showed up with the bottom transmission line nipples sticking through the box. The packaging they use is a joke.

Then you go read the reviews on Amazon and they are not good. Shipping damage, manufacturing defects, and some units breaking after less than 30 days. I didn't want to beleive them and I should have. This isn't the Denso quality we get from their US products.

Both of these are China specials. Might as well go with the one that wasn't gang raped while in transit. The Murray was double boxed with no damage.

Thanks for the info i didn’t realize that it would leave a “glaze” on the cylinders I could see that possibly causing oil consumption issues. I don’t have sludge problems since it’s had oil changes with royal purple every 3,000 miles since the the 10,000 mile service. It does seem like this would be a good product for slightly worn engines but i would have to wonder what that glaze would do to ring groves, bearing clearances etc. on a newer tight tolerance engine.

Is that a Relentless front bumper? They just very recently took all their links to the 1st gen bumpers off the site. However, just emailed and VM'd them, offering to pay 100% upfront it they would build me one. I can't find anyone else building 1st gen bumpers.
