I'm here on behalf of my close friend, he's not active on the forums.

Today I was looking around at his engine (05 4.0L v6) and I think I found a coolant leak. I'm pretty stumped on where the hell it's coming from. I only could get one good photo of it posted below.. I attached it to the thread as well, incase the pictures posted don't work for everyone.

so this is pretty much what I found. there was a few spots on top but nothing showing a visible path running down. It looked like it was mainly coming from this area and it was running down in paths on the front of the engine block.

there's no puddles or drips below his car where he parks it every day.

here is what we noticed higher up the engine, we were looking for any paths running down.

we couldn't pin point a location any of this was coming from. it looked like the fan or highway driving was blowing it around over here. there was random drips that were pink but nothing showing an actual leak.

I checked his coolant level when COLD and its right at the radiators neck. The level in the reservoir was right on low.
I'm not sure what level its normally at though. But technically since it's at the radiators neck he isn't running the engine with low coolant?

I'm concerned that his reservoir is right on the low line. Is this normal for 05 4.0 tundras? I checked around a little, apparently it's normal.

I checked all his lines, connectors and everything was in good condition. Nothing had weak spots or was old and brittle, so everything's good here.

You don't smell any coolant either and the cars running fine. I also didnt notice the fan turning on excessively. I actually just drove his car yesterday a couple of times.
The only thing he said hasn't been normal is his gas milage.

I don't own a tundra for your information and I'm not familar with toyotas ecu. But with my car if it's running hot my ecu will go into a different mode and will consume more fuel to lower temps. do tundras oem ecu do anything similar?

Is there anything else we can look for?

Sohc 1GR? It’s most likely the water pump, they were known to have water pump failures as well as headgasket issues. Other than that normal maintenance and they work great
