Yes they will. At least with this recall and anything related to the PCS

I think that's a good point. Wish I'd have thought of it while I was there.

I know this is a silly thing to say, but I've noticed the few times during rain or snow when my radar cuts out, the thing that drives me most insane is the light on the dash being on. If they had put that light somewhere else, maybe down by the parking assist button, losing the radar wouldn't really bother me at all. I never use the adaptive cruise control anyway.

I'm still a bit confused by this recall.

If there is an issue with water ingress of the PCS sensor, why is the software update necessary, and what changes?

    Anyone know?

I can speculate as I've sat on quite a few ERB and RCA meetings in the past for large scale defense systems... its possible that in fleshing out the design to diagnose root cause they found additional weaknesses and coupled the solutions together with the field fix process. So we may never know because that type of tech detail will probably not be available for public release but in this example let's say they noticed the potential for leakage causing damage. The primary issue with the PCS not working correctly could be traced to a software/firmware processing issue and just required some code updates to resolve. So while it appears two items are involved in resolving the PCS errors, it may be that only one of the procedures addresses the primary root cause.

This is confusing had my 2019 recall done at my oil change. I called the service manger exactly what they did? He said updated the soft ware . I asked why didn't you seal the unit ? His response And I quote Its sealed like a drum from the factory the 2019s. WTH

Not all units required sealing IIRC.

Good, at least some dealerships are doing what is right. Mine did the recall as well, but he did show me the bulletin as I was leaving.

ACC has been around since 1991 in high end luxury cars, patented by GM. Hell, the Lexus LS series had them a looooong time ago.

Hopefully, this recall fixes these issues.

Hey guys, consider this with a grain of salt but I took my 100% stock truck in today for 10k Toyota care and to have the recall done. The service advisor I got when I got there was pretty cool and was willing to talk. He had seen a good number of Tundras come in for the recall. He was knowledgeable and knew exactly what was to be done, or if it was bad enough or not sealed correctly then he would have to order a new sensor and come back for an install. My truck was fine and just required a little silicone and the new update of the software and recalibration.

With that being said, it was early and not real busy yet in the day. Talked to him about 10 minutes about it. He was real cool about it and basically hinted that they would not have a problem with a slight lift. They just did a Limited with a leveling kit and 1 size bigger tire and they performed the update no problem. This dealer has a big after market and accessory business across the street. In their dealer show room they have a huge area with Toytec lifts and after market wheels and tires and want you to purchase these as they are big money makers and they install them.

He said there is a recalibration process and from what their mechanics and other dealers have said is that as long as it is about the height of the TRD Pro it is fine and will recalibrate. Anything taller than that and they start running into problems getting it to recalibrate and might not recalibrate. Sounds like 2" lift or so and you should be okay despite what Toyota corporate says.

Hope this helps, and it sounds like every dealer is different. Probably also depends on the service advisor you get.

For anybody that cares, or wants to know what dealer it is in TN shoot me a PM.

I think it really comes down to dealer and service advisor!

I took mine in for the K0B recall and after a few hours, was told that they would have to order the 'cushion' to seal the MW radar. I asked if they did the recallibration and the service adviser said that not all vehicles have to be recallibrated. Its specific against the VIN. Really?? She continued to say that the recall is mainly to seal against moisture ingress. I thought K0B was to recallibrate the MW as the second step? I'll ask to see the bulletin when I take it in for them to seal it.

Mine's still at the stock height for now.

I absolutely T-totally L-O-V-E radar cruise control when driving on the interstate. Anyway, mine quit working once: I pulled onto an off-ramp, wiped it with a towel and presto!, it worked again. Only time I've ever had a problem. Wet snow that sticks could be an issue [or mud] or anything that is wet and sticks to the sensor, I warrant.

If there are no codes for the PCS, you get the “cushion” to seal against moisture. If you are up to date on the previous recalls, there is no update for some apparently. So that’s it if everything is good. If the sensor needs replaced due to a code in the system, it needs recalibrated, and might need the cushion if the new unit does not have a vent. :stirthepot: So recall every Taco and Tundra due to a troublesome PCS issue(I do believe it is a water intrusion problem...), deny the recall for lifted, changing the original grille, and any other mods. But it will be noted. :stirthepot:

I hear what you're saying but my dealer checked to see that my truck was not lifted in anyway and had the same size tires. I was told that if i had lifted it or installed any aftermarket parts that affected the height, they would not even attempt to apply the recall which would have meant not even applying the seal.

I have not yet received the official recall letter from Toyota. My aftermarket leveling shocks were installed by the dealership. Not sure how that comes into play if/when I need to do the recall.

Modifying the height of the vehicle changes the way the sensor sees the road. Part of the fix is a recalibration of the sensor.

Thanks for the link. I’m in the recall and I’m sure my shitty dealer will give me hassle about my leveling shocks and one size larger tire.

That's the exact reason I've held off on getting the pro grille. Lemme know what they say. (FWIW, I've always dealt with Mosie @ ToyEsco -- straight shooter.)

Have you noticed any other changes? I'm still on my first tank of gas since the fix and I swear it's telling me way more generous numbers as to mileage estimate for the tank (e.g., on a 26 gal tank it's now saying I'll get over 400 miles whereas it used to say 290).

I experienced something similar after the first recall was performed. I suspect it has to do with the trip computer relearning, and that your numbers will soon be more accurate.

Roger that. I love it: AI is so good now it even has aspirations! I hope we can get 400 miles from this tank.

At the dealership to get both recalls done. New 2019 Tundra out front with a 3 inch lift installed here. I have the older pro grille and a level. Going to see what they say. I have my old grille I can put on if I have to.

I've had the BRAKE warning light and alarm yell at me for no apparent reason, it has never locked up the brakes on me (yet) has any one ever experienced this?
I took mine to the dealership and they said they were able to do the fix on one of the issues but couldn't do it on the other due to "oversized tires' they are a plus 1, not that much bigger than stock.
I SAW A NEW 2019 TUNDRA FOR SALE WITH A DEALER INSTALLED LIFT. WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THAT.
Are they going to tell the new owner of that truck, sorry about your luck on TSS and PCS errors, nothing we can do, it's out of spec?
    Stupid NANNY SHIT...
    I'm kinda wishing I'd bought a new 2017 instead...
