so here is goes. About a year ago I started planing buying my truck and started pricing out all the things I wanted to do for my new truck. One of those things was a ranch hand full replacement with grill guard.
It killed me hearing that Toyota was putting their safety sense on their whole lineup and later finding out that ranch hand had no intentions of making a compatable bumper for my truck ( even tho it says 14-18 on their website).

I bought the truck in late April and researched up and down about this radar that was in the emblem, nothing on any forum, website or FB page. Then ARB came out with a Aussie style Bull Bar for the 2018 and I found one guy on a tundras FB page that bit the bullet and on a grill guard put cut out the center mesh. He said that he wasn’t having any problems with the active cruise control. I had a glimmer of hope then I found what I was looking for. The actual beam pattern that leaves the emblem. It talks about a 2016 Camry but it was the best info I came across here’s the link

    http://www.repairerdrivennews.com/2...replacing-a-radiator-support-is-more-complex/

So with a couple of questions to 15yota with his install I pulled the trigger. So enough with the chat, here’s the porn

She only has a couple of miles under her belt, and she followed the car in front of me so tomorrow will be the real test because I’ve used the ACC everyday I’m on 95.

Also I’m going to let the paint cure for a couple of days and I’m going to put automotive door edged trim around the mesh to clean it up and not have any sharp edges to bite me later.

    the fun is just beginning
Looks really good. If you had a way to cleanly remove those edges all the way to the bar, it should be too much work to sand them smooth and touch up that gloss black. But either way I like it. My tundra doesn’t have one, but I’ve got a very similar setup on my Ram Duallie and it looks badass

Thank you. I wanted to in the worst way. But since the 2 center bars are angled ( and not exactly centered) I couldn’t get the diamonds to be even all the way down the sides. And ranch hand welded the mesh in a couple of spots too on the center bars so oh well. I think it will look ok once I get the edge trim on. This bumper is mainly for deer protection since I come home a lot at night and drive threw the pine barrens to get to my boat.

Looks great! I want a ranch hand but was thinking it wouldn't work with the safety systems. I never use the ACC, so would I have to cut it out? This might be a dumb question but is the sensor in the emblem used for anything else? The reason I ask is that I turned everything off so I dont have to hear any beeps

I would assum the emblem would need a clear line of sight. Strap a piece of cardboard in front of it and see what happens then with the cardboard on the emblem put a piece of aluminum or metal on top of the cardboard and see if that Pisses it of. I use the ACC everyday so I needed it work so that is why I went the route I did

Have you run into any issues? I think I am going to buy one and cut out the mesh like yours.

I have over 1000 miles with no issues. I use the ACC everyday and i even came up on a car pretty quickly one day and it told to brake. It acts the same with the bumper/grill graud as it did with out

Ranch Hand looks great. Still no issues with PCS interference? Been wanting a Ranch Hand for a year and seems I finally found the solution.

It your not pressed for time getting the bumper on you could even cut less of the mesh so it protects more of the radiator . The beam pattern is only 20 degrees horizonal and 5 vertical.

I imagine I will end up removing the entire expanded metal piece.

I wish I could just order one without the expand metal at all. Would be easier and no paint touch up.

You can from a ranch hand dealer. It will take 6-8weeks and will not be returnable if they’re is any damage from shipping. Call ranch hand directly if you want to go with them with a custom order. They’re are other bumpers that don’t have the mesh and a little better fit and finish. Don’t get me wrong I really like my summit bumper because I feel it’s the best bang for your buck at 1200, but it is a production bumper and when you look really closely it is not Perfectly square or the powder coat does not get in all the nooks and crannies.
For rust protection i use a silicone spray wax from Maguires for my truck and the bumper it’s $30 a gallon and I can spray it heavy in those areas that the powder coat might not have gotten. And it way cheaper then produxa and hydrosilx

This is the first truck I haven't had Ranchhands on in a long long time. I usually do at least the brush guard. Most trucks had replacements front and rear. PCS threw me on this one.

Dude, I saw the Thompson license plate and then did a double-take where you are from. We are neighbors! Thompson couldn't beat Conicelli so I bought mine from Conicelli. Awesome bumper.

I am looking at a Ranch Hand Summit for my 2016. Mostly for deep protaection. Sounds like the weight is a non issue but figured I would ask again as some time and miles have passed. Any mileage decreases due to this.
