    Thank you!
I love the black, to the point where I don’t even understand why Toyota still makes the Tundra with chrome!

Definitely. I have on order a black limited, and I just don't get why the limited's have so much chrome. Toyota is definitely stuck in 2005 on that one.

Did you notice any scratching of the plasti-dip?

I totally agree about Toyota being stuck in the past!

It doesn’t really. But it certainly is not an absolute perfect solution.
High wear areas (bumpers and grill) get little flecks occasionally, but I usually just touch them up.
Overall it holds up very well if applied properly!

So most recently I did the wheels.
I did 7 coats on each wheel and used about 2 + cans.
As they start to get to the bottom of the can, I only will use that part for initial coats, because it can throw extra air and some larger blotches of Dip.

I'm doing my wheels soon with brass monkey plasti dip. It's a dark bronze. I got a "wheel kit" from dip your car for $60. Comes with 4 cans of color, 3 cans of glossifier, masking supplies, a spray nozzle, "dip prep" aka wheel cleaner, and "dip release" aka tire shine. The price was too good to pass up, that color was on sale and dyc.com had a 20% sale. I hear warming the cans in hot water helps. I also read the glossifier is a good idea on wheels as far as making them easier to clean down the road. I like you tip about the bottom of the cans. Any other tips? Thanks

    Sounds like a great deal!

My other suggestion that I mentioned is to be very meticulous with your coats.
First coat is quite literally just a dusting. You should see at least 50%+ of the original surface.
I wait 20 mins in between when indoors, or perfect weather outdoors.
Second coat another dusting, but slightly heavier.
By the third coat almost all of the original surface can be covered.
Then get progressively heavier with your coats.
Do at least 7. All very even coats.
The last pretty heavy, but not super wet.
    Then you’re ready to roll!

Yes, I only use bottom of cans for beginning coats.

When doing wheels use Post-It notes all around the rubber part of the tire under the edge of the rim so you don’t get it all over your tire.
I believe I learned this from Fonzie on the DYC site.

Use $.50 pieces to cover your lug holes if you take your wheels off, which I do and place them on a work bench.

    Other than that, have fun!
Are you doing your badges too?!?
Those are my favorite to do!

This is my second Tundra that I have dipped all the shiny stuff, and have been very successful with all of it!

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

If you have problems getting it off, you did not apply your coats properly.
Check out what I said to ‘Pudge’ further down.
If your coats are thorough and you have done enough, it should come off in a sheet.
Pull up all the edges, and then it will all come off smoothly in one big sheet.

    Maybe time to try again!

They hold up great if applied properly!
I had a 2010 that I did, and they lasted 4-5 years with minimal touch ups.
The only real touch ups were when I got new tires.

I have not had any problems with it.
I do plan to leave it on though.
If applied properly, it comes off very easily!

When I clean my truck to take the time to use a soft bristle brush which works great!

Thanks for the tips. I plan to do them on the truck and was planning on using index cars for the tires.
I do want to do my badge. I only have the platinum badges left on my truck, I removed the others. I wish I had got and extra can of dip when I ordered. I may go get a can or two of black to use as a base on the badges then finish off with a few coats of the brass monkey color, then clear.

Brass monkey plasti dip with glossifier. I cleaned everything 3 times. First coat was just a dusting and worked my way up to thicker coats. Used 4 cans of color and 3 cans of glossifier. Not sure exactly how many coats are on there but my guess is 10 or 12 total on the wheels and 5 on the badges. It really came out nice. The glossifier leaves the surface a little tacky. I have read this is common. I hope it hardens up as it cures. I did read that you can add a spray wax and it'll cut down on that tacky feeling. I hope it holds up well. I spent several hours doing this but I think it looks great for the money and time spent.

    Looking great man!!!!
Kind of a fun project, right!?!

I used the glossifier a few times and simply found that the matte was the look that I preferred.

Anyone plasti-dip their exhaust tip? I know the exhaust tip doesn’t get as hot but wondering if plasti-dip can handle it.

It was fine on my Tacoma. It may have hardened and been brittle, I'm not sure but it looked fine and wasnt peeling or chipping. Looked like flat black paint
