Experienced this when I had mud tires on, the rubber would flex on a fast lane change or heavy acceleration, went to Michelin ATs and the problem disappeared. I have Toyos now and they pretty much suck if I take off hard. Just to set it straight, I don't even want to spin my tires on take off. It's like why lose rubber and traction, I want to get up go!

Yeah what intake? Never heard of that. Sounds like a really bad idea.

I can attest to that. Just this weekend my TRD CAI tube came loose from the housing and tripped Track-Control, Check Engine and 4Wheel Low lights. Un-hooked Neg battery cable to re-set everything and truck didn't want to start or stay running. Didn't notice it right away but after reading on here about loss of positive vacuum for the engine, I checked it over again and found the separation. I caused it when chickened-out with how tight I clamped the tube on install. Re-attached and clamped tighter+ I'll add clamps when they're delivered today.

Disabling the trac control is worthless unless you disable the stability control. Trac control is only for going in a straight line. As soon as you even slightly turn the steering wheel the stability control kicks in and acts just like the traction control.

I didnt catch that I put intake "delete". It just has a K&N intake. Didnt do anything to the motor other than that. Listen guys im not some newbie kid lol I worked as a mechanic for many years. Im a lineman now so I dont have access to the fancy diagnostic equipment anymore. This though had me a little stumped. Ive thought of all the things you have all listed. I just thought someone might have had this happen before and could point me in a good direction to start.

Never push the gas pedal all the way to the floor. Basic driving school 101. You're a mechanic and don't know this? Congrats on frying your tranny...

Never once had any issues with vehicles from using all the pedal and power the manufacturer gives you. Maybe the fact it has 160K and was used to tow a toy hauler most of its life played a role. Do I think the trans is actually slipping or has issues? No I dont. Doesnt show any signs. I think its something else sensor related.

Mine does the same thing but I ran into an old man with the same truck and he mentioned if I ever used race mode. I said race mode? What the hell is that? He said hold your traction control button until one amber light comes on where the tach is then let go and then do the exact same thing again until you have 2 lights on. Now go floor it and see what happens. Every time I get in my truck I turn race mode on. Let me know if that fixes it

Buahahahahahaha! Who told you that? So you’ve never floored your tundra? What fun is that? Other than basic wear and tear. The manual doesn’t state that.

Pretty sure the pcm cuts throttle much longer than it applies the brakes. The latter is over in a second. Then the engine acts like it has a carburetor jet 5 sizes too small for a bit while the computer puts the driver into time-out for 3 seconds for being naughty. It's super noticeable on the narrower 255 width tires.

Newer vehicles automatically cut throttle during a full-throttle upshift to greatly reduce transmission wear

Why? What am I missing other than the fact that the 4.6 is smaller. And maybe some different gear ratios in the rear end.

For fucks sake. How do you figure he fried his tranny. Mine does the same shit if my tires spin. I’ve beat the crap outta my tranny and zero issues. Plus what Tundra owner doesn’t push there pedal all the way to the floor? I took Driving School 330 cause 101 is for Prius drivers

Anyone ever fix this issue I just installed firestone destination mt2 and have the same issue as the creator of this thread, I have tried a zpc and seemed to fix it a little, also was reading this thread and one guy was talking about mud tires moving on the wheel more then a street tire and I have noticed with windows down on normal acceleration I can hear the tires gripping the road, sounds like a drag slick on some prep and thinking that might be the overall issue.

I get that but don't want to turn everything off every time I get in the truck.

Whatever it is heavy pedal and downshift sounds like a comp, fuel, air sensor issue. I’m not savvy on the new tech. But unless the new trucks have crazy drive like your holding your coffee mode, sounds like it needs a diagnostic.

On a similar note, the computer may be preventing unwanted Prius stuck accelerator pedal to keep you from driving into a wall. Forgot what that “feature” is called. If it thinks the brakes are also on it could activate the feature. Maybe something is wrong with the brake pedal sensor or something or you drive with one foot on the brake?. Just a thought, not trying to be rude or anything.
