    For 2016 Tundra, DC: I'm changing the fluids in the diffs and transfer case: What is the best brand/viscosity to use?

    Is there a magnetic drain plug for all these you recommend?

    For the 75w you have 2 options: Toyota stuff $$ or Ravenol

    For the diffs, all personal reference to be honest. Lots of guys LOVE Amsoil, RP, Mobile1...etc

    I just did mine this weekend... I ran the RedLine 75W85 Synthetic in Front and Rear Diffs ( I believe Manual recommends 75w85)....

    Transfer Case I used the Ravenol 75W ( got it on Amazon ( has really cool pour spout in it)

    Front and rear diffs have magnet on the drain plug. make sure you clean it off before re filling diffs

    I'm using the Ravenol right now as well, 6Tmiles issue free so far!

    Here is what my rear diff drain plug looked like 2016 CM 45000 and never been changed ( got changed this weekend)

    I may just run 5-10K on it and re check it and replace diff fluid if needed. We will see..... the 'Seat of the Pants Dyno' seems to feel that the shifting is smoother and the switching in and out of 4x4 is smoother too..

    Unless you are running a heck of lot of miles in 4wd I would not mess with the tcase. I don't run as many miles in 4wd as someone in snow country does but I use it fairly often. At 50k on my Tacoma it was spotless.

    I am IN Snow country ( New England)... one of the last storms of 2018 I ran from TN to MA all in 4wd...due to the 6-8" of snow.. for the couple bucks in 75W.... I just change it... peace of mind to me

    Thanks for info. The only thing that gives me pause about the Ravenol is that it seems to be made for German makes. I'd love more info re: Ravenol, your experiences with it, etc. Please let me know.

    That being said, after much research, I found that no one makes a specific T-case oil for the Tundra. Apparently, Toyota has kept this recipe a secret. I ended up going to the local Toyota dealership. They don't even use Toyota's T-case oil - said it's too damn expensive to recommend to customers ($75/quarts, 2x quarts needed). They use BG
    $39 75W-90 GL-5 Limited Slip, Ultra Long Drain 500k Miles, Manual Transmission, Gear/Differential Lubricant (1 Gallon)
    75W-90, 2 quart container, $90. Said they've been using it for years, trouble-free. So with the knowledge I have at this point, I'm deciding to use Amsoil 75W-90 for diffs and T-case. Anybody have any evidence why 75 may be better to use than 75W-90?

    Don’t do it man. That’s what I did, I went off of a write up from the second GEN assuming the same transfer cases. They are not. I put in the same stuff I put in my front and rear differential
    $39 75W-90 GL-5 Limited Slip, Ultra Long Drain 500k Miles, Manual Transmission, Gear/Differential Lubricant (1 Gallon)
    75W-90 royal purple. I click my truck into 4 x 4 on a straight piece of road on the way to work occasionally just to keep it lubed up. I could feel the truck pulling to the right or left. Also it would not disengage 4x4 until I made a turn. The 4hi light would flash until I did. Then you would hear a clunk and the light would go off.
    Switched out to 75W Ravenol, and now all above, is now smooth operation.

    It does suck that you can’t just use the same fluid for the differentials. But I highly recommend either using this or the ridiculously expensive Toyota version. Nothing less.

    Dimple magnets if your willing to spend the money. Please review Toyota OEM voa vs Ravenol voa I posted in transfer case thread. I use Red Line 75w80 mtl and sticking to it. I can post someones Red Line voa if you would like to compare.

    Hadn't heard of Dimple. However, ordered Gold Plugs (https://goldplug.com/), about $20 a piece, for diffs, tcase, tranny, oil pan. If nothing else will make me feel better. They look to be of decent quality. Going with Ravenol 75W for Tcase. What is VOA?

    Look up my past posts ref virgin oil analysis.
    I wish I could link and post but i am still learning the forum format. Btanchors did quite a lot of work and research. Look up my old post history to see that Ravenol is not in my opinion that good compared to Toyota OEM TC fluid. I paid for the VOA on the Ravenol. Anymore info please ask anything.

    Toyota OEM is approx 60 a quart. Straight ,unknown mineral, semi, synthetic, 75w very fortified for what Borg Warner spec'd for 2014 and later TC cases.
    Ravenol is 15-20 a quart , straight 75w synthetic manual transmission fluid.
    Red Line is 20 plus a quart 75w-80 synthetic manual transmission fluid more fortified and closer to specs of Toyota OEM fluid.

    Yes, and Thank you for the reply.. I read both VOA and saw some values were higher for some additives ( in the Toyota Fluid), however in the comment section of the Blackstone report it states that is is fine for its intended use.

    I'm not sharpshooting you by any means, you have gone far and above what most would do and I appreciate your efforts in getting us ( ppl on this forum) the best information.

    Again, thanks for clarification on this. I tend to continue research after I've purchased something, and I found that I was looking at two different bottles. One is the pic you have above. The other is this:
    $49 RAVENOL J1C1125 Transfer Case Fluid DTF-1 - Full Synthetic (1 Liter)

    This is "Transfer Case Oil" from Ravenol. Looks to be for the Germans. Wonder what the difference is between this and the manual fluid?
