Thoughts on new suspension build. I’m planning a new mid travel setup and would like opinions. Mt setup is heavy and will end up getting a alcan leaf pack with a 1000 lbs in extra capacity.

    Been looking at kings,and ads...

Thoughts are appreciated from the masters @jberry813 @M C M or anyone else that wants to chat.

Build the rear. Spend as much as you can on it to carry your weight with the biggest bypass shocks your budget allows. Add matching 2.5” coil overs with 2.5” bypass secondaries up front. You can spend a fortune, but be realistic, easy to get to the point of shoulda just gone long travel...

    I thought about that also.

I think the front will be fine without the secondaries up front as I don’t do high speed. I do agree on the rear though.. I would guess the shocks for the rear would have to be custom spec because of the two inch lift the alcans would provide also

I think Kings come with 650 lb spring rate keep that in mind...your gonna want something higher if you have extra weight....Idk about ads....my fox 2.5 come stock with 700lb springs.

    All stock-ish. Powdercoated blue suspension.
King's comes with 600lbs spring for their coilovers, but you can always request for 700lbs or 650lbs if needed during the ordering process. Make sure you try to get a general idea of the amount of weight you plan on putting on in the rear and inform Alcan about it. Bumpstops would be nice as well, wheelers superbumps are a nice bang for the buck unless you want to shell out extra coins for hydrobumps.

personal opinion, chat with ben at filthy motorsports. i've learned a lot from him in the past few weeks.

for what you do, which is very similar to myself, king 2.5 coilovers up front will cover you for almost anything. secondaries are a nice to have, not a need to have, unless you're going to spend days cruising over washboard. grab the 700lb springs. you and i have the same front bumper and the 600lb springs will not be enough.

king 3.0 triple bypasses out back with the alcan packs will be perfect. the 3.0s have a hydraulic bumpstop built in. you will need to spend the time tuning them but once that is done, you will be floating.

Ya .. I was already set on 700lbs springs do to all the extra weight...

I was thinking the same for the rear setup but was hoping some the other suspension guru's would chime in espically around ADS ... curiosity is why as I've heard others on here they would go the ADS route if they could do it again

Ya you need at least 700 spring rate. Can’t go wrong
With ads fox or king. Only complaint I have with my fox 2.5’s is rust/corrosion. But if you don’t live where they use road salt or chloride your safe.
