I noticed this awhile ago but now have time to adress it. My heater kob will only turn 3/4 of the way clockwise. I can force it all the way but once I let go it springs back. My dad has a 05 Tundra and his heater knob goes all the way.

    Thoughts?

Here's a pic of the temp knob at its max setting.

How difficult is it to remove that panel that the knob is located on?

I can't remember but does the knob only go on one way if not them try to remove and reinstall so its all the way to heat. Then turn to cold and see if it goes all the way

Shouldn't be too bad. I have to remove it anyways when I replace all the lights back there. None of my HVAC controls light up anymore. LOL

    Awesome stuff! Thanks!

That's what I figure and the reason I posted this today. As the weather smartens up, my list of updates/maintenance to the truck grows...

Not enough hours in a day to do all I want. I wish I had a @Professional Hand Model kicking around who had all sorts of time to tinker on my truck for me. :D

Yeah, the weather is getting nice here so it's time to get caught up on things finally.

Decent chance that your knob just needs to be pulled off and put back on. Mine would look like it was going all the way on the cold side but was actually only mid way through the cold band when I first got it. .

Does anyone know of a link to removal/installation instructions or video for the heater control, to include replacement of the 3 cables? And my apologies is it's posted here, I just haven't had any luck finding it, thanks to all!

:typing: Sorry to revive this dead thread, but I was having the same issue with the heat/cold knob, and it ended up being that the previous owner had positioned a coolant hose clamp at the firewall improperly causing the heat controlling arm to get stuck on the hose clamp at 3/4 turn to the right. If anyone else has this issue check that first before getting under the dash.

Thanks to all of contributed to this thread! I am a new member but have owned 2 1st gen Tundras since 2008. I am so happy you guys took the time to post your solutions. After cleaning the manual actuator, the mode control still required more torque than the knob was designed for. I fixed it by grinding/sanding the shaft inside the heater control unit. I have attached the photo posted by user Backdoor.

Thanks for adding another solution to this problem. Which part of the shaft did you sand? Thanks
