Hello to all I am a new member I have a 2001 Toyota tundra SR 5TRD package. I noticed it was running very rough going down the road. I was down to about a quarter tank of gas so I decided to stop at a Shell station and fill up the gas tank with quality fuel. I called my mechanic and told him the problems that I was having and said to him that I was going to stop by and hook it up to the scanner to find out what’s wrong. He hook the scanner up and it read the codes PO 302 PO 304 PO 306 PO 308 and PO 300 . Needless to say all four cylinders on the passenger side or not firing. I change the spark plugs in the coil packs, still not firing. The engine starts and runs, but of course, not properly. I was thinking it might be the cam sensor or the crankshaft sensor. You can smell the fuel coming out of the exhaust, But it seems I might have an electrical problem before the coil’s. Half the engine is running what a head scratcher. Any help is deeply appreciated.

Swap the coils to the other side to make sure they’re not bad, also check for chewed wires, sometimes rodents shelter inside the engine compartment and start chewing on the wires, have you done any repair or mod lately?, if so, check for loose connections, just some ideas.

I checked the other coils and they’re working fine. The only other repair that I did was the timing belt and that was done by a professional. But no other mods were done to this truck.

.. I also checked many wires and vacuum lines to make sure there was no rodent infestation broken or chewed wires.

If all your coils are good then you to need to find out why there is no juice getting to four coils. Do you have a multimeter?

No 4.7 it says so on the engine cover and title. I had it for eight years it had 18,000 miles on it when I purchased it. I always used quality parts and Bosch spark plugs and premium fuel.

I know. My 07 got the new 5.7L. A multimeter would help you out a lot if you can get your hands on one.

Yes I have a multimeter. I checked the fuses to make sure that they were all good.
I think it might be a problem before the coil’s.

So you are getting juice to the four coils in question? I'm certain some owners of the1st gen who are more familiar than me will chime in.

It sure doesn’t seem so. The plugs were wet when I pulled them out. I just purchased brand new coils And installed them.

Yes. All the coils are new. Where should I check for ground connections? The battery ground is good. Looked around the firewall and the main frame.
    Remember..2001 truck.

Yup - I knew that (once upon a time)!
    Thanks Wolf

Curious - What prompted you to replace all the coils?

A lot of times when things go wrong it is best to go back and check the last thing you changed...

How are the fuses arranged for this engine and the coils? One fuse for the left bank of 4 cylinders? One fuse for the right bank of 4 cylinders? Have you checked that it's not simply a blown fuse?

I change the coil’s because they weren’t firing.( first thing I thought of doing) The last thing that was worked on was the timing belt.

Can't offer any help other than mentioned.

FYI, Bosch plugs are not great quality. Better to go with OEM.

Did it start with the belt replacement? I'm wondering if the belt jumped timing.... just sounds suspect, unless you know for sure its electrical
