Perfect truck awful seats.

my dad has a situation similar to yours with your back. he has a new 4runner. he hates the seats too. we both agree the seats in my 2012 tundra are some of the comfiest around. bolt patterns are probably the same. probably an easy swap. go sit in some first

 

I have a 2019 limited, seats should be the same, Mine has adjustable lumbar support, i like the way they fit me but i'm a couple inches shorter then you

 

I have a 2015 Crewmax 1794 model the seat are unbelievable, lumbar adjustable, heated and cooled seats and many adjustments for the driver. I can drive for hours. Sure beats my old F150 I had before.

 

try using some leather cleaners and lots of driving and or sitting in them. in due time it will break in like a stubborn baseball glove

 

Trade it in for a Platinum

 

Same here I have lumber support i have it all the way inflated out. Fills in my lower back nice.

 

Hey guys. new Tundra owner here as well. I swapped out my cloth seats for the TRD leather done at the dealership up here in Alberta Canada. So far I love the seats and wasn't much to upgrade so was a no brainer. One of the biggest differences I've noticed jumping into a Tundra is I feel as though I'm sitting much higher in the truck than what I'm used to, but like it!

 

Wow that’s wild, wonder what benefit they see in that, seems to me it just shoves you into the dash.

 

Has anyone asked a dealer to swap the drivers seat for a platinum? They’ll probably just laugh but I’m considering it.

 

If you're doing that, you're better off with a higher end katzkin kit

 

So it is the leather that’s the issue? Interesting they all use the same padding

 

I don't think there is different foam across trims, but the leather can be quite firm when new. Try sitting in a few years' old used tundra to see if a "broken in" seat is better for your back.

I really think that you can at least find a front driver and passenger platinum seat at a junk yard in great shape for low cost. check into that. or like the other member stated get the katzkins.

2017 Limited driver here. Seats were pretty stiff at first, but after a year of regular commuting and a quality leather conditioner treatment every few months, they became a bit softer and easier on my back. I'm a fun-sized dude, so that may have helped a little. Short of strapping a duffle bag full of bowling balls to the seat and driving down a stretch of railroad tracks, you're probably just going to have to wait it out until they break in to your liking. Hang in there, the juice is worth the squeeze.

 

Maybe it’s the fact that I have cloth interior but I like my seats. Way better than the bench seat I sit on in my work truck. Even better now that I don’t lean back like a teenager and I have the seat up right like a nerd LOL.

 

I didn't drive a Platinum, just a Limited and a 1794 back to back. Besides leather being different, the seats felt exactly the same to me. 6'4" 250 lb.

 

Shoulder and side protection. Pops out between you and the door.

 

I’d strip it down and put a thin piece of rectangular memory foam in the lumbar region. Disconnect the battery and harnesses, remove the whole seat from the truck. The leather is held by clips.

I actually thought about doing that when I installed my Katzkins but they’re pretty comfortable.

 

Looks like the lumbar support isn’t going back far enough to me, is there a way to adjust that spring?

 

So this is my solution, I removed the schukra lumbar support plastic and the seat feels perfect to me, another option I see is to bend the frame rails back some and re mount it but I never use lumbar support so this my best bet for now.

 

It took me a while on my 18 limited. I just kept playing with adjustments and with the lumbar adjustment and now with 5500 miles they are comfortable. When I first got it the seat bothered my back a bit.

 

Sorry to hijack this thread but its related. I can not find the thread using the search function about adding spacers to the two front bolts on the front seat to raise it slightly. Any help appreciated.
