The 02’ is spec’d for DEXIII on the PS. Same for the transmission. I bought some Valvoline for $14 a gallon online. Stole it.

Not sure about the 05’ years specs.

Tried to grease the 4WD zerks with my new grease needle. No dice. I could push in the nipple but the grease just comes right back out instead of in. I'm pretty sure it could be done if I could pull the shaft and put it in a vice where I could have better access. Laying under the truck at a weird angle while trying to hold everything just didn't work.

All the Toyota’s are dex 3 p/s fluid. Usually safe running t-4 through them. Just always curious what others run

This is what my drivers side looked like. The 5 and 7 tubes cooked a bit more than 1&3. Darkness fading from front of engine to rear firewall. The passenger side valve area looked way better than the drivers side. Seems normal per the few pictures of these engines I’ve seen. Thanks for posting these.

I used this and I'll be using it for the next drain+fill for the transmission.

My philosopy is change fluids often, as I tow and haul semi-regularly. The extra cost on the synthetic isn’t justified in my case. As far as I know, DEXIII is all that has been used by the mechanics that have done the servicing over the years.

What is the standard go to PS fluid at the dealership for our 1st gens? The III or the IV?

Today is clean out the Power Steering Reservior Day. Based on yesterdays observation, I believe there is a micro screen at the bottom of the cup located near the side near the smaller hose port. Here is a pic from yesterday.

The older lifetime led design I had was single diode on each side. One for low and one for high beam. They didn't do well with the dtrls on my 03 taco. I had to warranty replace em about 3 times in less than 2 years. That's when they finally sent me the "upgraded" pack that I sold recently and never installed. I hope you have better luck than I did. Now that I've disabled the dtrls I may give leds a shot again after you've run em a bit and report your findings.

The Stock Resonator just after the cats on our trucks, does it quite the exhaust much?
I have a flowmaster dumped before the rear axle and I was thinking about removing the resonator......

Confirmed micro screen in PS reservoir by draining and shining a light from underneath. Did two more flushes to rid the cack chunks. They feel hard but when easily smashed almost look like tiny mud balls inside. A light brown color inside. Dark on the outside.

my exhaust at this point has no muffler or tailpipe, it ends directly after the resonator. Not too loud. I would guess it does quite a bit.

Painted up the battery hold down bracket and slathered some electric silicone on all the mount points.

    Cleaned the MAF Sensor.

If you're still planning on having a muffler it doesn't do a lot. Mine had a hole in it and the shop just welded a pipe in it's place. With that and a new muffler it's no where near loud at any point.

Is this what your dealership puts in our transmissions? Or do they use Toyota ATF?

Yesterday was adjusting the drums. Been two years since everything was replaced so just a quick adjustment to tighten the pads up was needed.

Today was a new alignment. Had a nice talk with the tech. Told him I wanted as much caster as he could get. And everything else around half a degree.

He got 2.5 caster. He said that was the max he was getting.

Much better than before. No more rubbing on the frame at full lock and more room near the firewall.

I’ll have to compare it now V.S. before...

Got a hit on 3 of those used coil packs on the fakeboook market place. Made a deal for 3 for $50. Now for the actual meeting and money exchange...

Where do you adjust these drums shoes? The dial notch thing? Cleaned mine the other day and the drum tolerance fitment was pretty tight on the put back. The shoes seemed as close to the drum as possible without touching.
