    Hey fellas,

    I have a 2012 CM TRD RW with a 4” suspension lift.

    I’d like an extra 2” — giggity.

I was looking at the Bilstein 5100 and found the front shocks adjust up to 2.5” and the back adjust to 1” only.

Wouldn’t this the stance look off ? Looking for 2” all around.

    Any recommendations or advice ?
I’ll just throw this out there and say I won’t be doing any off road stuff really so don’t need anything super high end. Rather have a smooth ride with the look of 6” rather than 4”

    Thanks in advance.

Rear 5100’s do not lift. Shackles, leaf pack or add a leaf are your options

Edit: you can only use 5100’s in the rear when lifting the rear up to 1”. Anymore then you’ll need an a shock that’s spec’d for more.

As LT75 said, shocks won’t lift the rear. 5100s will accommodate up to 1 inch of lift if I’m not mistaken. As for the fronts the 5100s have three positions they can be set at. The top setting will be the stiffest. In the rear you can replace the leafs, add a leaf, replace the shackles with extended ones or a block.

That said, are you sure you have a suspension lift, or is it a bracket lift or spacer lift? Tell us what you’re working with.

Hey thanks for the reply. When I bought the truck, the previous owner said it was suspension lift. However, I didn’t know much about it. After reading the forums I am starting to understand. I’ll have to take pics when I get back home (I’m in Europe) and maybe y’all can help me identify what I have and what I need.

Shackles don’t seem too difficult to install and look to be around 200. And the 5100s look to be 400.

I imagine for lights it’s better for the vehicle to have a forward lean. For performance, I imagine if the lean or “rake” goes towards the back, the performance is better ( more weight on the back tires)

Ok, I’m back in the states. This is what I’m currently working with. How can I raise this beast 2” more or so with the current set up I have ?

What’s the measurement of the spacer on top of the front shocks? Whatever it is, double it and that is how much lift you already have.
At 3 inches of lift is where you start to need upper control arms so that your alignment can be adjusted correctly. Also the higher you go you will start to have issues with your CV angles. Spacer lifts and my eyes are only for aesthetics. You also risk bottoming out your shocks and destroying them without bump stop spacers. In the rear you probably have a lift block underneath the leaf springs just above the axle. I wouldn’t suggest going with giant lift blocks either. A set of lifted Springs is probably the best. You can also dude lifted shackles and get up to about another inch and three-quarter’s of lift that way. You could also do an add a leaf.

If you want your truck to sit any higher than it already does, I suggest ditching all of it and going with one of the popular bracket lifts. They’re not the best for Hardcore Offroad but they will give you the height you want and you can also get some adjustable coil overs to go with it. With that, you can get a decent riding suspension and the lift you’re looking for.

How capable do you want your truck to be? A bunch of lift doesn’t necessarily mean it’s capable and able to rock crawl.

So that some of these guys around here who are suspension gurus, and have more experience than I can help with... What are your goals for this truck? Just big tires and sitting up skyhigh? More of a mall crawler? Or do you want a truck that can do some high-speed offloading? Or maybe something in between?

I’d like it to sit like an inch or two higher. Not planning on doing any off roading. Just being a diva Toyota owner really. If I could get an inch all around with Bilstein 5100s I’d be stoked (as long as I’m not putting unnecessary stress on other parts)

Just looking at that can on top of your coil over, I'm guessing there's more to this. We need a picture of the cross member, from straight ahead. I suspect that can is part of a bracket lift.

Agree. Is there a block between the leafs and axle? Looking again I think it's a 1.5" can w/o the bracket lift
