I would consider myself not very mechanical, but I've changed driver's side axle (on a different vehicle than tundra). I wouldn't have the stones to do it if it was not an already assembled unit. Saved a gross amount of money DIY'in it over having a shop do it --and it's lasted 70k miles so far. Good luck, anxious to hear/see how it turns out.

My buddy and I just replaced my driver side we fudged it up pulling the knuckle down to far while installing the strut. Threw my alignment way off after taking it all apart just a heads up I'm sure you know that lol

I am aware of the alignment. I will be installing a different drop and a few coachbuilder shims so it will be out anyway

Looks like the small spacers that came with my 6" lift from rough country.

Yep haha. I had to order the socket today since I couldn’t find one anywhere in town. Will be in tomorrow then cv axle inspection. Upon further investigation it looks like the boot has a pin hole leak. I’m going to inspect the bearings and see how they look. Hopefully I get lucky with a clean up and grease job then new boots.

Pulled apart my drivers side cv joint for inspection after finding grease sprayed all after my truck haha. Looks like a pinch cut in the original boot. After inspection the driverside outer cv joint was clicking so decided to replace both with the heavy duty upgraded cv axles. First side took 2 hours. Passenger too 20 minutes. For anyone planning on doing this do not remove the brakes or hub. Totally a waste of time. Just remove the lower steering bolts from the steering knuckle and the cv fits past it. Glad this is done!

The boots. And if you look at the shaft it’s thicker. Don’t know what advantage that is besides extra weight?

Just bought them from the local Napa. They were $210 Canadian a side. Couldn’t tell you the brand name. Although there is a logo looking ‘C’ engraved on the shafts as seen in the picture. The boots seem to be much better quality than oem also.
