Just got a 2018 tundra 4x4 DC, SR5 with 18" wheels. The wife needs help getting into the cab. We are both 70+ and lost a little spring in the step. I see step side rails, running boards, and something called sliders. I thought the running boards would be easier to use, but a guy a the 4 wheeler shop said the rails hung lower and would be easier for her. Opinions please.

Sliders are mainly for off-roading, protects the truck's undercarriage if your truck scrapes over rocks.

You would probaly want to look into running boards, there are even ones that are mechanical, that slide down for you to step on when you open doors. How far down the steps would go depends on truck height and where you could step comfortably.

    Welcome to the forum Charlie!

Tyger makes some nice step bars but if you want a clean look. Look at Amp research steps .

Welcome from TX! If keeping truck stock height those Westins should certainly help. There are many to choose from.
There is also a grab handle you can add to the front pillars to help get in as well.

    Good Luck!

I use these iboards, I looked them. This is the second truck I've installed them. Not too low or too high. Good grip you won't slip. I need them cause I have an infant helps getting into the rear.

I recently purchased the Go Rhino RB20 running boards for my truck. Paid $416 with free shipping via Amazon Prime. After considering steps, etc., I decided on a running board since they might be a little safer when exiting the truck (not missing the step, etc.) My CrewMax is the stock height. My advice would be to watch the local FaceBook Marketplace and Craig's List for a few days. A lot of guys buy a truck that already has steps on them and immediately replace them and sell the ones that came with the truck. Around here, you could buy the quasi- OEM ones with less than 1K miles for $100 twice a day for a week.
