2000 Tundra will not start

Did you ever figure out what was wrong? Mine died while driving and it did the same thing afterwards, it endup being the timing belt

 

Not yet, I changed ignition switch since that was cheap but didn't help. Going to get to the starter and see if that's it.

 

Hi, I just joined because I am having the same problem. It started here in Nevada when just when it started to get cold. I would turn the key and there would be no sound from the starter. After holding it for about 5 seconds it would turn over. Until a couple of weeks ago when it would just no longer start. I have changed the ignition relay, the ignition switch, and just last week I changed out the starter. The battery has been tested and it is fine. Took it in and it was a 70%, I am thinking it this percentage from all of the starts I have been attempting. Just like the rest of you I have full power on all of my electronics, radio, lights, power windows, and headlights. There is no sound coming from the starter and the clicking that I do hear is coming from the Fuse box under the hood (relay). I have a 01 V8 with 236k miles on it. Any help is greatly appreciated as I would like to hit the 300k club with this ride.

 

This is gonna sound nuts but I had the exact same issue in my 07 tundra. What I did is I went in from the passenger side wheel well and bent the heat shield back a bit to expose the starter housing. Hit it a few times with a little rod and she fired right up. It's only temporary and a new starter was eventually needed. I also did see that I needed a new starter Relay also to help the truck out a bit on the electrical side. But Im only self taught in all of this. I will edit I did have full power and on my first run with this issue no clicking at all. I replaced the starter and the new one went bad also within a while so i had to use the rod to start it, just tap that housing a few times and then try.

 

Ok I've got it apart and I'm to the starter. How in the world do I get to the bolts on the back of it? Do I have to get under the truck and go through to them or what?

 

I have no idea. You're only the 2nd person I've seen mention the repair. They put the starter in a horrible spot but they apparently don't fail very often. Let us know how it goes. Sorry I can't help.

 

Up top. 14mm bolt head. If you find a rodent nest in there, check for chewed wires while your at it. Mice love knock sensor wires!

Hey man did you get your truck to start? I have a similar situation seatbelt light on the dash and my headlights and the cargo light turn on but the windows don’t work the locks, radio , nothing inside works. Changedthe starter ,starter relay ,ignition switch ,but when I turn the key nothing happens did you find out what was wrong with years?
