I got the glove box half off, but I got nervous when it came to screwing around near the airbag and I didn't want to mess with it too much. That's all I need is to create some fault in the SRS system and have to take it to the dealer. So I put it back together, and somehow have a screw left over and can't figure out where the heck it goes. If my current solution doesn't work and the glove box must come off, I suppose I can figure it out then. I really, really hope my zip ties worked....

Got it fixed!!! I went ahead and wrapped each tube with radiator hose cut to fit. I zip tied the hose on and zip tied the two tubes together. This eliminated the rattle/buzzing sound. Word of caution; these pipes get HOT!!

Cool! Where are you taking this picture from? The piece removed above the glove box?

I've only had my truck a month now but heard a buzzing noise when a truck with a loud exhaust and a car with some bass drove by me. It sounded low or underneath the dash. I removed that lowest piece under the glovebox and found two dry crunchy leaves. Im thinking I was hearing those. If not, I'll do what you did.

The blower motor has the blue and white sticker on it that reads 44. In my first picture, the metal in the left foreground is the part that the glovebox attaches to. The two silver tubes are going through the firewall. Both pics are taken looking straight in. All the plastic to the left is behind the center console of the dash.

My tip zie solution did not work. Next up, take a friend out with me to confirm that these two pipes are what is causing the noise, and try the solution shown above. I won't give up!

I just confirmed it, this is the issue I'm having as well. I popped the dash piece off and had a friend reach back there. When the buzzing was happening, he pushed on the metal tube he could reach and the buzzing stopped. Now i just have to figure out how to get the glove box off. I might just take it into the dealer and ask them to do it. They genuinely seemed interested in trying to fix the issue last time I was there but the truck wasn't making the noise at the time and they couldn't pin point the source.

Took her into the dealer to get an opinion. The dealer said they'd need to be able to replicate the noise, verify that it's the heater tubes, and would then have to consult with Toyota on a fix.

So I'll fix it myself. I can access the tubes with the kick plate below the glove box removed. I'm not going to put the radiator hose on, but I found heat stabilized nylon zip ties on Amazon that are rated for continuous use in temperatures up to 257F. It won't be hard to snake a zip tie up there and across both tubes, which will hopefully tighten things up and remove the tolerance/play that is allowing the buzzing. I'll update if this relatively simple solution winds up working.

My buzzing/rattle has stopped for good. I'm glad you found it was the same thing as mine. Just be sure to only zip tie the tubes enough to stop the noise. I didn't want to put too much stress on the tubes.

Alright, I need tips. I cannot get a zip tie on, there just isn't room. My hand is all cut up from trying to make it fit into an area it shouldn't fit. The glove box is going to have to come off, there is no other way. I know about removing the lower right pillar, then the piece that snaps off on the far right side of the dash. I know to take the screws out of the glove box. What else is there to do? Last time I tried taking the glove box off, I wasn't sure how much was necessary to remove to get it to come off.

All the above, plus take off the knee airbag, and whatever remaining screws you see holding the glovebox. Then pull it firmly toward you.

I GOT IT! Didn't need to take the glove box off, either. It dawned on me, maybe I could get to the pipes by going through the panel where you put the air filter in the glove box. There was just enough room to snake my right hand in, and I was able to reach up from under the glove box with my left to get the zip tie wrapped around. Pulled her tight (but not too tight) and took her for a ride, and the noise is gone!!! This has tormented me for several thousand miles now.
    thumbnail.jpg

For anyone else that has a similar issue, the zip tie I used was purchased from Amazon and is a "heat stabilized" zip tie. Those pipes get very hot and I was concerned that a regular nylon zip tie would melt/warp. These ones are allegedly good for continual use in temperatures up to 257 F. Hopefully this is the last I have to deal with this superficial, albeit INCREDIBLY ANNOYING buzzing noise.

    VICTORY!!!

Would anyone describe this as an almost ground loop type noise? Mine is most prevalent between 1800-2200rpm. Super high pitched and gone the second I'm off the gas.

Well I ended up solving my buzzing/hissing sound on my 2015. It wasn’t the ECM at all. It was the throttle body gasket! I know a lot of other guys have already found and performed this fix but I just wanted to update everyone because I was sure that the hissing (at 1,800 rpm under load) sound I was hearing had to be something inside the cabin. In reality it was coming through the intake. So all I did was pull the throttle body off, take the gasket out, and cut the metal screen off of it.

just did the same. No need to take the glove box off, just access small panel beside the air filter. Posting step by step pics. Take the 3 screws off the front of the glove box, that gives you more opening play to get your hand back on that small opening to access the pipes. Next, take the zip tie, run it under the pipe closest to you and take your hand and find the end and connect to the other end. His part is tricky but I just practiced closing the loop and connecting the ends with one have prior. Hope this and the pics help.

There's at least a few of us having this annoying problem, I see. I few weeks back I got a private message on the forum from someone with the same problem, asking how exactly I fixed it as he must have wanted more specific information than is in this thread. I told him, and the zip tie solved the buzzing for him as well. This said, I had mentioned this to the service guys at my dealership, and they were baffled. After the problem got fixed, I told them what I did, just in case any other Tundra owners showed up with the same cryptic problem.

Ok so I took my Tundra to the dealer for an oil change and noticed my dash was slightly warped. Brought it up to the dealer and they said they would take a look at it, long story short they said they would replace it for free ($1200 parts and labor). Also I told them while they’re at it please check the metal tubes and ECU/ECM for buzzing at high rpms. They replaced the dash and drove it around after and no buzzing. Have come to the realization after driving about 50 miles after with no buzzing at all that it was not infact the metal tubes or ECM but was directly related to the dash. Don’t know if the clips or mounts were loose but whatever it was is gone now, no buzz or rattle. I would check the dash and surrounding area between and around dash first as something within the dash seems to be the issue.

I know this is an old post, but I wanted to say THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! I have been driving with that damn buzz during cool/cold weather for over nine years. I found the loose washer/bolt, and have stuffed foam and anything that will dampen noise in any place that might vibrate or buzz. Nothing worked. I have searched the forum and web multiple times and somehow didn't see this post. Put the zip tie in place last night. No noise this morning at all. Cabin is completely quite for the first time in a while. I'm so happy.
