Did you tighten the ring attached to the skid before or after you put it on?

It's our damn terrain up here in Norcal. We're constantly sitting on boulders. I got a lot of that damage on one trail. Niagara Rim. It was pretty rough and I didn't have anyone spotting me up front. It took us 3-4 hours to go the first 1/4 mile. It was ridiculous... I can't wait to go back there.

No, it wasn't cracked, I cut that line there to try to pull it out. I welded it back together, I hope it holds.

You're supposed to drive over the boulders not drag yourself over them.

Camburg Billet UCAs installed. Had to drill a couple new holes to relocate the resi mounts as the new arms are way beefier. Put it on the rack and caster was way too high and couldn’t get the toe in spec. So had to remove it again and take in the heims a bit and got a 2nd alignment. Finally got some decent caster... I’m in the 5’s now and can go even higher. Alignment also straightened my steering wheel which was pointing to 10 o’clock ever since hitting a big rock in Death Valley.

But now I’m rubbing the cab mount in reverse so it’s finally time to do a CMC. The welder is still set up in the garage so I’ll try to tackle that next weekend before our trip in a couple of weeks.

well the icons actually have a sealed delta joint. but the perk of the icons is you can actually make all adjustments on the truck vs. removing the uca bolt every time. Hes got icon suspension, just curious as to why camburg over the icon?

It's a shame because I really like the delta joints. Just wasn't pulling enough camber nor caster with the Icons. Total Chaos doesn't have enough room for the resi hose on the 3.0's without swapping the driver and passenger side coilovers. And even then, the hose makes contact with the springs. Icon billets would've been my top choice, but my buddy @TRD15559 sold these to me at a price I couldn't refuse. Pulling the arms to adjust is a pain in the ass but luckily it only has to be done once. I'm actually very happy with these, I can already feel less jolting on small bumps.

yea sorry I didn't specify the billet icons lol.. that's what I meant. and yea you cant beat a good deal. especially as hands on as you are, thats a pretty easy in and out process for you. good deal I was just curious but that makes perfect sense. and yea ive heard a lot about the caster on the tubulars... glad I didn't go that route. looks nice tho man! good find.

It never rubbed before. :notsure: Wasn’t even close. The UCAs and the last alignment really moved my wheel back a lot. It’s still really close with the CMC. I’m going to redo my alignment before I chop the other side. If I can’t move the wheel forward, I think I need more aggressive plates.

Installed @Victory4x4 LCA skids. Really like these and they literally took 10 minutes to install. Came powdercoated too. I didn’t really get these to protect the LCAs, I got them to protect the cam tab mounts.
    150E238F-703E-4C90-8A77-90045BDB8E92.jpg

The front cam tabs are completely shielded.
    21B54EB6-B7B8-4EB7-BBC8-490DEA88812B.jpg

And on the rear, the skid is just a bit lower than the mounts that I should just slide off rocks and avoid touching the mounts. These are perfect.

I really kicked myself for missing the chance to buy this when I had the chance. Well, @dcsleeper408 gave me his. Very well made and now that I know David, it’s pretty cool having something he created in my truck.

And my buddy Shane @SIXSEVENONE swung by today to give me a lifetime supply of propane. And hung out as I prepared the truck for Mojave. Thanks Shane.
