I’m in the process of adding a compressor to the truck and I’m debating if I should add an air tank or not.

What’s your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I'm same boat as you. There was a great post where someone was making uber the hood mounts, but he has been MIA for 2 months now. I have a compressor I'm looking to mount.

Whether or not to run a tank depends on what compressor you use and what you wanna accomplish. I went sans tank until I switched to an ARB twin and set up the system to air all 4 tires at once. I didn't feel the ARB single was a good choice for airing all 4 at once. Adding the tank provided a manifold from which to run the lines to each wheel well.
If you're considering air horns, those systems generally run a tank

Buy a small portable one that plugs into your interior outlet. Cheap and easy. Stores under seat or leave it at home when not on the trail.

Got a build thread on how you set that up? For all 4 at once?

I think it's in my build thread. Probably not very detailed though. Feel free to PM if you have any questions.

I sent a message to the guy that has a cad file for the mount I created. I don't wanna get your hopes up. He's had the file for over a year ago and hasn't done anything with it (should've kept it for myself).

Yeah, I see hasn't been on to update his post for almost 2 months now. Sucks when people finally get something figured out that works, and disappear, lol

I have an ARB single mounted on the Xfaktr mount. I love it. I just use it to air up. I will be putting in the air up down kit eventually. I have read about people that made their own (not my skill set). And used a single and didn’t have any issues.

I currently have an ARB Dual waiting with a custome bracket made by @Bannock452

I’m just torn about trying to run my system with a tank or not.

My system will also be able to air up or air down all 4 tires at once using the same design as someone I follow on IG. @sponsoredbywifey I also plan to install an air chuck in the front and rear bumper

    None, yet....
You got a build thread on this? I’ve had mine sitting on my stairs for probably over a year, waiting to go in.

Any of guys running into issues with the thing overheating in that location? I have a twin and I can’t do more than 4 tires without one of the pumps going down. This is hood open, no obstruction to the grill, on a 55-60 degree day. I thought it was odd....

I say better to have the tank than not to have. I have a 1.5 gallon with a VIAIR compressor. The tank is nice that I'm not constantly running the compressor when I'm using the air locker and a storage to fill tires, rafts/tubes. I would like to have a larger tank.

I have not had any problems I have usually filled 6-8 tires (haven’t tried to fill more). This is with the single ARB

I'm rocking a twin ARB inside the truck and I love it. Behind the seat 07-13 crew cab. Just need to add the PRV and up/down the tires go with 1 button!

Compressor is more important than tank. I have a viair 1.5 gallon mounted under the truck. With a quick connect coming out of the rear bumper. It works fine, but not a strong enough compressor imo. If I had to do it over again, I'd rather run the ARB twin compressor.

Would you mind posting photos of where and how you mounted your tank? How much larger of a tank would you want to have?

I currently have an ARB twin that’s waiting to be installed. I’m just curious if I should incorporate a tank to my plans or not.

I’m running a viair dual 400c with tank. Airs up tires very quickly. Runs tools. Eventually lockers etc. mounted it where spare went. Going 37’s down road and would lose that space anyways
