Installed one on my girlfriends Jeep and everything worked as it should. It was a pretty neat set up and I was impressed.

Really? My 2018 TRD Sport shows numeric TPMS in the instrument cluster screen under the same panel as the trailer brake readout. I have a hard time believing a platinum wouldn't have that feature.

I had an installer hook up 4 new door speakers with the JBL amp group buy, and a new pioneer head unit.

The installer said he’s getting no sound to the speakers and thinks the idatalink maestro is the problem. Anyone have any experience with this? The front 3 dash speakers are working because it’s wired directly to the new head unit.

The maestro needs to be told you're using an external amp from the HU RCA

IIRC, don't plug in the speaker parts to the Maestro at all, RCA goes directly into the headunit, and whatever speakers you want on deck power go directly to the HU part as well

That’s what my installer said he did. But still had to audio from any of the new speakers.

What about the head unit? Maybe a setting in there to configure how the RCA outputs.

@ninjajay im looking at the RR-TOY02-DS for the maestro. I’ve read some install horror stories that require soldering wires. Did you have to do any soldering, or was it all just adapter plug ‘n play?

Ill definitely take a look at that when I go see the truck. He says a lot of these idatalink maestro devices are faulty. And it seems that way reading reviews on Amazon but I dunno.

Soldering is one option to build the harness. You can also use caps, connectors, or even electrical tape. I chose to solder mine. I think Crutchfield sells prebuilt ones that would be 100% plug and play?

I'm fine with soldering... other than that, how is the install? I was going to get the items listed on the Maestro website and take a stab at it myself... along with the head unit of course. I assume I can build the harness and solder on the bench, or does it need to be done in the vehicle?

I was recommended to buy a new idatalink maestro and see if that fixes the problem.

You can do all the wiring on the bench so everything is PnP once you're in the truck. The most annoying parts for me were removing the console and running the OBD2 wire down.

Sweet. And I assume those parts are on the install instructions? I've never done anything car-audio before like this, but it seems pretty straight forward.

Yup, there's a big graphic for each vehicle that shows which wire matches with what on the HU harness, plus a few that are mfg specific at the end

Got it, and went through it (dry fire) before I order anything. You said finding the OBDII port was a bitch? Do you have to re-route anytthing?

Finding it is easy, dropping the cable down from the headunit was a pain

ninjajay, I am about to do my install in the next day or so with the Pioneer AVIC-8400NEX ... all from Crutchfield so I have the maestro, etc. Just curious if you know ... does the existing "mic" in your truck work for phone calls, etc or did you run the new radio mic? I am not seeing anything stating or not stating that it connects up to maestro, etc. Thanks in advance! I have a 2017 MGM CM Platinium.

I ran a new mic, some people actually use the new mic in the factory location but I just clipped it to the driver sun visor

It would rad if you took pictures/documented everything. I will do the same when I get around to mine, and it'll help the collective resources of this site!

@ninjajay another noob question for you.. I’m assuming your parking sensors still function on the HUD once you replaced the head unit? This is functionality I definitely want to retain if I replace the head unit. The shop I’m talking to hasn’t installed the maestro in a Tundra with parking sensors, so they are reluctant to gaurentee it will continue to function. I assume it’s a separate system, but I know a lot of manufacturers are starting to run all functions through their head units and wanted to confirm before I spend that kind of money.

Just want to make sure ... is the antenna on top of the CM above passenger side (roof) the Satellite antenna? Cant find any documentation ... I am assuming it is and that the GPS antenna is hidden someplace else inside the truck. Thanks in advance all!

Does any one have a pic of the maestro RR with the proper placement of all the wiring? I’m not getting the controls to work on the steering wheel.
