I wanted to get some hidden auxiliary reverse lights. I've done in-bumper lighting before, just didn't want that on my new truck. I went with lights on that flat strip between the bumper and the tailgate.

I bought these lights on Amazon. Initial impression is that they are a quality light. Good solid metal casing on them.

I didn't use the rubber backing that came with the lights. Just one layer of electrical tape so that it wasn't metal on metal between the lights and truck.

Just for reference and comparison, I replaced the stock reverse lights with Zevo LED reverse lights.

Some more reverse lights for sure! Were you able to leave tailgate and/or bumper on to install?

Yeah, everything was left on. Didn't even have to drop the spare. I doubt that I would have gone for this if I had to take off the bumper. I'd say it would be best to leave the tailgate on so that you can set the height of the lights in the gap properly and also use it as a straight line to make sure that the lights are installed level.

One pack. Seem to be quality though. Much better than the first ones that I tried out.

@dumbassdave is it a noticeable difference from stock lights?

I'm considering cutting a flush mount 2" cube into the rear bumper beside the plate. But I like how low profile this option is.

It's quite a bit brighter. Absolutely noticeable. Not as bright as my flush mounts in my old tundra bumper though. Could always put in 4 of the lights I did?

I am about to mount some flush mount in bumper. I am debating the fastening method. For the location I am using the inside 2 bolts won't be a problem but the outer ones are going to be tough to access. I am thinking I can glue the washer to the nut and use tape to hold the nut in a box end wrench. Problem is 3/8' wrenched are awfully short. Another idea is SS self tappers on all 4 or match the heads and use self tappers on one side and bolts on the other. Goal is to mount these lights without tearing down the bumper. I think it can be done with 4 bolts but might take some Aggie engineering.

I ended up going in the plastic. Still tight and positioning has to be spot on. The little tab that holds the plastic to the metal gets in the way if not positioned properly. It is definitely a measure several times cut once kind of deal.
