Hmm maybe you can find out for me if there's a larger Toyota throttle body that can fit my 4.7vvti

I have those same center caps. Unfortunately they're about 2mm too small to fit my KMC Enduros

i have 2 throttle bodies at home right now... a 2gr-fe one (maybe? doubtful) and a 1zz throttle (way smaller)

id just send a factory one to maxbore and have it bored out honestly

I heard the 5.7 throttle body may work on the 4.7 and in combo with larger injectors could give more power.

depends on if the hole in the plenum is big enough. but if i get a chance i'll dick around with it. But if the hole in the plenum is smaller than the hole on the 5.7 throttle you would be creating turbulence you dont want because of the step up the air would take

Unless there's enough meat to shave out and do a port match. It would probably have to be fairly close for that though.

Get the injectors in first. Talk with Keith about the throttle body when on the phone discussing your injectors. He’ll talk your ear off about truck stuff and how to improve it. He knows his stuff. Call him.

Go check out his site. The complete system (he has many) set up I’d like is a stock sounding one. Its over a grand in cost (parts) and gives 40 more HP due to the manifold design. Wait till you see TRD cost and compare the two.

You need the long tube headers and the race exhaust for those kinda numbers.

I guess I’ll not worry too much about the oil weeps. Nothing online about stopping it except switching back to dino oil, but even then some say the weeps persist.

The best explaination I saw was that the Synthetic molecules are enginneered with such perfection in uniform size that they line up and can squeeze out of the smallest gaps. Evidenced with my eye as my seep seems like a perfect line all the way around the seal (like its a perfect ring marching down the pan). Dino oil molecules are more random in size and can block a gap. The detergent nature of Synthetic is removing the sludge that would normally stop a weep so this, plus the uniform molecules, is where the weep happens.

I like the Synthetic thats in there now, as the engines really purrs with it and the last oil change with 2,800 miles seemed dirty from the ‘cleaning action’. A trusted auto site says to make sure to change the oil filter more often after the first few changes with the Syn oil to filter out the sludge thats been cleaned off.

I’ll keep on the same track for now, as many who have made the switch say after the second oil change that things may improve with the seals. Not sure switching to ‘High Mileage’ will work, as the reviews say otherwise and Mobil doesn’t state specifically that this will fix the problem.

After I did the purge last month I switched to Mobile 1 full syn as well. I've not seen any oil on the ground yet but I need to crawl under there and see if I have any minor leaks. Prior to this, I was running a synthetic blend and I have no idea what the original owner used for the first 14 years. I'll take your advice and change the oil and filter well before the normal 5,000 miles.

Sounds good. Just to clarify, I’ve no oil on the ground. Its a VERY slow weep. A thin layer of oil on the pan (below gasket) in perfect harmony.

I’ve put up this guys site before. He uses the W. Edwards Deming (Toyoda post WWII savior) philosophy.

I went to full synth in my.... think it was the Z3. Started hemorrhaging oil. Went to high mileage semi synth & things got better, but not as good as before. Gave it a couple oil changes & things were mostly acceptable, things that weren't got new gaskets.

Neither has mine, to the best of my knowledge. I can see gray gasket (looks like fipg) squeezes around perimeter. Its tight up around this whole area. I wonder it the engine would need pulling to put on a new gasket?

I don't think it needs to be pulled but that strange thing you guys call a front diff might make it tricky.
