How many of you have installed sound deadening with your new audio set up? I am on the fence about it.

I did. I’ve done every vehicle I have owned. Some people upgrade the speakers and are satisfied. But I know the benefits the sound deadening provides for not just the sound, but the overall decrease of the interior noise and just makes the vehicle more comfortable to drive daily. To me, it’s a necessary part of upgrading the sound. I used rammat throughout. Outer door skin. Inner with a layer of ensolite. As well as floors and entire back wall with rammat and ensolite.

I did a while back and still have more to do. Next phase is my floor then maybe someday the roof. I used noico CLD tiles (aka dynmat),closed cell foam, mass loaded vinyl, butyl, foam and some heat reflective insulation. Check out sounddeadenershowdown.com for some great info. It's well worth it if you do it right.

So how much weight do you think it adds to the vehicle? I have no clue as to how heavy this stuff is, is it just a matter of a few lbs or what? Just curious..

I did back wall and doors. I will guess box weighted 25#. Huge guess from 6 months ago.

It’s not as much as you think. Maybe 30-40 lbs at the end of it all?

Yes. Less than sub box and two tens or two steel bumpers. Lol

OK, I hate to ask this but did you take sound meter measurements before and after this work? If so, what was the drop in db?

Might want to double that. I used about 60 SF on the doors alone.

No. And not full coverage as it’s not required to get the same results. I have a crew max though. So the doors are big. You need to do the inner and outer skin to be effective. That’s nearly 15-20 SF per door.

Imo that's enough. You only need about 25% coverage for flat metal surfaces in your car. There is no need to cover every inch or even half of it. The sticky tiles are made to deaden vibrations and rattles, and they deaden in more surface area than they touch.
That's the step one of a good sound control project. You'll wanna get closed cell foam and adhere it to some mass loaded vinyl sheets and hang those panels on your doors and back wall. Also cover the floor in closed cell foam then MLV or even sheet lead if you want. The mass is what kills road noise, the foam provided a barrier or air gap between the metal surfaces and the MLV so vibration and sound doesn't transfer right to the vinyl. The closed cell foam also cuts down on rattles. Someone mentioned ensolite earlier. That's a brand of closed cell foam, kinda like yoga mat material, usually with one side being peel and stick, that's good stuff but more expensive that buying a roll of closed cell foam and some spray adhesive
