I wouldn’t shim stock shocks, but that’s just me. 5100’s ride better than stock suspension from what I’ve heard, and if you don’t want to drop much coin, they’re perfect.

5100s were our first suspension upgrade. They rode better than stock and provided exactly the level you’re looking for. No change in towing capacity either. With that light of a TT, you’ll have no issue towing without bags.
If you offroad even a tiny bit, don’t do shims. It only takes one bad bounce to make for a broken shock and a sketchy day of travel to wherever you can get it replaced - supposing you can even drive it at all.

I am no expert but I did the 5100 and 1.5 shackles and the ride is great. The truck is pretty much level with a very slight almost unnoticeable rake which in my opinion is perfect. (THE LOOK thats it.). I stressed the look because I am now looking to buy a 6 inch lift kit. Zach said I should MANup:militarypress: and buy it so I am working on a excuse to give the wife

Can someone tell me if this is a typo?

It seems to suggest that you would need a smaller tire after leveling. That doesn't make sense.

I am not sure but I think the factory is 265/65/16. and what it is saying is that with 275/70/16 the wheels is wider and taller and with 265/75/16 the wheels are same width as factory BUT TALLER. that's my understanding. hope this helps.;)

I do have to say that I have a renewed respect for the Toytec split 3” front Coilovers spacer Lift. It rides pretty much exactly like stock. Definitely worth it if you understand the limitations offroad. Perfect for on-road only cheaper lift. I have had my sport shocks with these spacers on for about a week now.

CSUViper, thanks for sharing so much good information- this thread is great.

Do the toytec spacers require alignment after install?

If you JUST did 5100’s in front, is that sufficient for leveling without modifying anything in the rear?

5100 will give you .87", 1.57" or 2.28"in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. Standard rake is typically just under 2", so the 1st setting will leave you with some rake, 2nd setting will be just about level, and 3rd setting might leave you slightly nose high, in which case you can add something to the rear. However, adding 1" to the rear will again leave you with rake, which you try to get away from when leveling.
Since each truck is different for some reason, either the 2nd or 3rd setting can get you level without doing anything to the rear, depending if your rake is under or over 2".
I am thinking about 2nd setting with 1/4" shims which will be 1.82". My current rake is about 1.9", so that will be perfect for me. I don't want to be nose-high, and I don't want to really add to the rear. (still thinking about it....)

I went from a 3”ish lift to a 3” lift so no I didn’t need to do an alignment.

Ok- back again with questions. I have the Bilstein 4600 shocks on my truck now- they are part of the TRD off-road package.

If I add the 5100’s the front, adjust to the second setting, and leave the back alone, it sounds like I will damn-near level the truck with a fraction of an inch of rake.
If I do this, will I need to plan on an alignment?

I only ask because I like to do stuff myself, but aligning the truck is not something I have the tools or wherewithal (at this point) to tackle.

Yes, you should still do an alignment.

When doing a coilover lift over 3" on a 2WD, is it necessary to upgrade to lift spindles?

Is anyone getting driveline vibration when adding to the rear leaf pack? I'm going to get 5100s for front and rear, and then also either a single AAL of the AAL pack(3), odd but both claim to add 1-1.5 inches of lift, I'm guessing the single AAL rides smoother than the pack. I'm coming from a Tacoma so this is why I bring that up but as I'm typing this I'm realizing I now have a one-piece driveshaft so this could be completely irrelevant.

    Welcome to your Tundra!
What is the use case for your rear lift? If it's payload capacity, the AAL is a valid option. If you're just looking for some lift, I'd go shackle instead, as it won't make the unloaded ride harsh.
Driveline vibration can be a thing on the Tundra. You'll notice it under acceleration if it happens at all. A carrier bearing drop solves it and is easy to do.

Thanks for the reply. I have a crew max with the 5'6'' bed so payload is already pretty limited due to space. Its more just to gain some lift and maintain rake.

Yeah I’d look at doing a shackle instead of add a leaf in order to keep unloaded ride quality good.

I'm trying to level my 2016 Toyota tundra . I just want to bring the front end up. Not Looking to spend thousands of dollars. But am willing to spend hundreds . Does anyone have any ideas what would be the best one for that price range?

I did a BDS 3/1.5 on mine. Its a 3" spacer in the front and a 1.5" shackle in the rear. I will be selling mine very soon as im going with a bigger lift !
