I just had this problem occur on truck with 8k miles. Think it’s party weather related as it happened in mucky wet snow today in Sierra.

Yes it will happen if snow covers the emblem and windshield. It’s the nice sunny days when it’s on for days we are worried about

Thanks. I have had the brake light of the system come on a couple times during good weather. Maybe over a bump on road or something. Not sure if there might be a sensor issue on top of weather. Thanks

Mine does it A LOT now. it's scheduled for maintenance next month, I will have them address it then. It happens on perfectly clear day or with a just tiny hit of rain. It's really bad when it's set on cruise control and it does it. I was on a road trip earlier this month and I had the cruise set at 75mph no rain.. sun out and out of the blue it flashed that precollision thing and then started flashing the brake light and took a hard brake with no car in front of me..it was on the right side of me about to pass it and it was no where near coming in to my lane. Scared the crap out of me. I'm almost to the point of disabling for the time being when I know I'm making a good trip with highway and using cruise control but my cruise control won't work when it does it and if I adjust the speed on my cruise it keeps going back to the first speed I set it to. I have to turn it off and reset it to get it to stay at the new speed. Weird.

    Hi,
I've returned to the forum after a long absence and I a little out of element. After years of Land Cruiser ownership I been "seated" in a more comfortable ride - a 2008 Sequoia Limited for eleven + years and now a 2019 Sequoia Limited. I like to read about the upgrades and accessories everyone works on. But this thread about PCS "unavailable" messages interested me.

The 2019 Sequoia has been generating the unavailable clean sensor message for about the last six weeks here in Minnesota. The problem is nearly continuous. Yes I have cleaned the sensor and and scrapped ice from the sensor all to no avail. Of course the dealer (the largest Toyota Dealership in Minnesota) has never heard of this problem before but seeing all of the posts in this thread I doubt the veracity of that claim. I'll post a photo of the sensor so you can see the sensor and the position of it relative to the license plate. The sensor is positioned where snow-melt water runs down on the sensor and freezes on to the sensor creating icicles partially obscuring the surface of the sensor. Next week a Toyota Master Tech will look at system and report to Toyota corporate through the Customer Voice program.

Based on what I have read in these posts I expect my outcome will be similar.

You have to clear the toyota emblem in the front of your grill. Cannot have dirt or snow on it, radar will not work.

Mine ended up having to have the sensor replaced. Took a couple of hours for them to do. I sure hope this isn't something that will keep having issues later down the road. I'd hate to see how much it's going to cost after
the warranty is up. I had no idea the 2018 was the first year for them to put this on there or I would've waited another year for the bugs to be worked out. Still love my truck though!

Thanks for the suggestion to clear (clean) the Toyota emblem but on the Sequoia the PCS sensor is not incorporated into the Toyota emblem but rather, it is located below the bumper partially obscured by the license plate.

Wow that is scary, no wonder they are pushing extra 3-4 year warranties on Toyota's lately. The reps and salesmen say"you never know when your Sat Radio/NAV console will break or this or that....... etc

Ooooh, I've wondered that myself on the Nav/Radio console too! I bought a screen protector the first day I brought mine home, but I'm sure there are aftermarkets out there that could work. Anyone know how often or how much it is to have the maps updated? My best friend has a Ford and said they were going to charge her $300 to do a map update on her truck. I was like nah, I'll just use my Waze app on my phone then if that's much!

I’m on 4 sensors, replaced safety harnesses and new camera. I still have issues. It was about $3000 to replace one of the sensors, the safety harness and recalibrate. Thank god for the warranty. The manager has a 2017 tundra that has stereo issues. They replaced the whole unit and something else that would have been $3000 as well without the warranty. If your going to keep it and already have the PCS issue, get the extended warranty before your factory warranty expires.

Truth be told i would not care about the Sensor i have great reflexes when it comes to braking, 3,000 bucks to replace??? wow. As for the radio, yeah that would be a problem.

Remember though. Cruise control and a few other things don’t work without the PCS. That’s one of the issues I’m having. I’ll be cruising on the highway then the cruise control turns off unexpectedly when it shuts down. Almost got rear ended once.

Its just adaptive cruise that stops working. Normal cruise can still be used.

Yes I read somewhere how to disable the adaptive cruise but can't remember where. I *think* you have to hold in the cruise button to disable? I can't remember. As far as the braking.. honestly the few times it's come on mine it's right at the last second. Whether it would actually prevent much damage hitting the one in front by throwing on a brake light on the dash, not sure but I sure didn't notice in those few instances so far it braking any more than my foot slamming on the brake.

Then something else in the system messed mine up because last time it didn’t work. Tech noted it in notes. Replaced sensor then recalibrated and it worked again. Yes the regular cruise didn’t work.

Do you all think it would be OK to RainX or Aquapel the emblem?
