    Hello All... Help Please...

First of all, I would like to know if other Tundra owners are experiencing their truck bed being installed further to one side of the vehicle than the other directly from the factory? Has anyone experienced the rear axle not centered under the truck?

If you haven't looked at this closely on your truck, you may want to...

I am looking for a little guidance on what I should do to resolve an issue. Keep in mind I have been running factory wheels with factory +60 offset, so I was tuned to my wheels always being tucked well inside the fenders. Two months ago I purchased new wheels and tires for my tundra. the wheels are a +15 offset, so they protrude slightly outside the fender.

So a couple of days ago I was out in the garage walking by my truck, which is a 2015 Toyota Tundra 1794, and something caught my eye that stood out to me. Upon further investigation, I noticed the passenger rear tire protruding slightly farther beyond the fender than the Driver side rear. It was really noticeable, so I performed a few measurements and this is what I discovered:

IMG_0776.jpg The passenger side rear tire...

    IMG_0790.jpg
Rear Passenger outer tire distance to fender: almost 1 .25"

    IMG_0779.jpg
    The Driver side rear.

    IMG_0788.jpg
Rear Driver outer tire distance to fender: almost 0.75"

It appears the bed was mounted offset more to the driver side from the factory. It has to be the bed because I measured frame to wheel and it came out almost exactly the same for both sides. That leaves only the bed position to blame, right?

This is annoying me now that I have noticed it.... I really don't want to unbolt the bed bolts to try and adjust it because I have a spray in Bed liner and will have to remove the coating around the bolts to loosen them...

Should I contact the factory, complain, and see if they will make this right (I have 44,000 miles on truck, so out of waranty)?

Should I call the dealership and inquire if they can assist with the issue?

Should I just knock the bed coating off the bed bolts and try to adjust myself, and then respray with some rattle can bed liner? Whats the difficulty with this?

Looking for thoughts/ideas on how to handle....

Loads of our tundras have a small difference like what you have here, its just even further exaggerated by our lifts/wheels. Doesn't hurt to try going to the dealership but i highly doubt they will do anything.

All our trucks are like that, axle is offset on purpose. Do a quick search:thumbsup:

will do a search. I spoke with Toyota briefly and they of course had no comments other than recommendations to bring to a dealership to have them look at it...

do you know if there is any adjustment in the bed bolts that woulds allow me to bump the bed over slightly if I just loosen them?

Never messed with bed/bolts, I would think the holes in frame or bed would have to be slotted to get any adjustment out of em. :notsure: crawl under and take a quick look

Iirc it’s not the bed bolts that you adjust. It’s the axle alignment with the springs

Hey guys, wondering if theres a fix for this. Just got a little lift with new tires and wheels and now it is noticeable. The tire on the right sticks out further than the tire on the drivers side.

I posted about this a few months back and heard nothing but (sorry!) I'm glad I'm not the only one. We checked the offsets, and then the shop tried to blame it on the bed alignment - but went to the dealership and measured it out with the tech. Only came to less than a 1/4" that he could move the bed. With the new info above I'm going to go back to a different shop and the dealership and see if they can't centre it for me. You but a $50k truck - you would think this wouldn't be a thing....

I'm not seeing a bed alignment, but more so an axle alignment. Nice garage fridge by the way.

I had that same problem after my lift and new tires. It drove me crazy so I bought 3/4” bora bolt on spacers and only put 3 on the rear drivers doesn’t have a spacer now everything lined up great.

Thing that’s driving me nuts is just the one tire sticks out further than the others. I prefer them to not be sticking out, or I’d just do spacers and get them all to match.

I’d like to know what the dealer will say or what they’ll do. Please keep us informed @tundraforme .

It will likely be next week before I can get over there - shift work.

I thought about spacers but I know of a couple guys that had them fail up in the mountains here so I'd want to do a bit more research before throwing them on, especially because it would be just the one side.

Every Tundra I’ve seen does this. The passenger rear wheel sticks out a little. My bed is offset to one side a little too. If it were on straight, that wheel would pop out even more.

Longer list than the wife needs to know about....
I have the same issue. noticed after installing my lift / tires.
Its normal - i've also seen dozens of tundras around my area with the same thing.
As others said if the truck is tracking straight i'd be hesitant to make changes to your axle alignment.
If you think its the bed check the gap between the cab and the bed on both sides.

One of the first things I did was loosen up my bed when I got the truck home and realign it the best I could. Not with the axle but with the cab. Then I adjusted my rear bumper to make it as closest possible to square. I don’t even look at it anymore.

so I finally got my ass into the dealership and spoke with their head technician who confirmed that axle is off, but they won't do anything about it! I'm not going to be putting in spacers on the one side - not worth the risk if something happens as I do offroad/camp alone way too often

interestingly he said that Toyotas are the best out of all the trucks for this (they won't QC something that Ford/Chev/Dodge would).

no, he said alignment won't be an issue. I'm taking it to a reputable shop here anyway out of sheer curiosity to have it checked out. I have a major road trip coming up in a month so I want all my little ticky boxes checked.

I'll post if they say any differently

alright - so have had an off day and will apologize in advance if this doesn't make sense.

Alignment guy (who is AMAZING by the way - my truck drives better than it did new I $hit you not), said that my axle is totally within the acceptable range. he said it was at .3. he said if it was even at .4, .5 or .6, he'd be recommending me to bring it in to have it adjusted. Now, he said at .3, nothing will be affected: not tire life, not alignment, nothing. But, he said that if I want to keep the truck forever (like hundreds of thousands of KMs which I plan on doing **edit: sorry put that in miles), I should get it adjusted. So when I'm back from vacation, it is going in for another hour to be adjusted. I had a really bad headache by the time I was leaving his shop so I only remember parts of what he said but he will adjust the dowels on both sides, one out and one in. might be .1 off is what he said but he should get is pretty darn close.

I will post before and after pics when it gets done.

Thanks so much for sharing. Are you using a Toyota alignment guy or just a general shop?

Please do post before and after pics and take a friend to take notes, hahahahaha. Would like to know exactly what they do for you so I can tell my guy here exactly what to do.

    THANKS AGAIN! Take some excedrin!
