So far they seem to be ok... except I’m getting one little dent in the bedliner where it’s hitting the motor when it’s recessed, and that’s annoying.

The motor is also struggling now, like sometimes it won’t even go all the way back up. I called the original guy who installed them, and he told me they’re just in a bind. So I’m trying to work on pulling them off and putting them back on to fix that.

But I don’t have complaints as far as how they feel.

Well I finally decided to pull the trigger and upgrade to the AMP boards. Currently have the Havoc HS2 hoop steps. As much as I love the steps (amazing quality and fit), just not the look I wanted.

Still shopping for a good price. If anyone has recommendations I would greatly appreciate it!

I used 4wheelparts, they came with free installation and only took few hrs for them to be done, I just had line-x put on mine and love them so far, but do recommend get the override switch when you get them. comes in handy being able to lock them down. Or you could hold the step down till the override.

Thought about going through them, but think I want to do the install myself. Even with free install I would be looking at an additional $200 over price on Amazon.

Did you do them yourself or have them done? Cost?

I had installed the Xtreme version of these. I figured it would be best to have dual motors for the running boards and they seem to be a little bit more traction based on the more rugged design. I don't seem to have slipping issues. I would also highly suggest the override as well. I don't know if the normal version comes with the new controller but on my Xtreme version, they did have the updated controller so all I had to do was buy the switch for the override, saving myself quite a bit of money on having to buy a compatible controller.

I know the plug and play will not work for the 2018. Do you think they can be direct wired for an 2018?

Snap! Sorry, I see now that the thread title states 2018 Tundras. I installed this on a 2017. That might be an Amp Research CS question. Apologies.

I think I saw somewhere there is an on/off switch you can install as well. Has anybody done that with an 18?

Mine are getting small dent /bare spot right at the motor, were you able to fix yours, gonna try messing around with the mounts see. if any play. The lineX is pretty thin so wouldn't think should make that big of difference, but both boards hitting same spot on motor.

Yup. I haven’t found anyway around it. Small nuisance for as good as the Berliner makes them feel. But a nuisance nonetheless.

Where did you purchase your override switch from? Trying to find someone that doesn't charge a ridiculous amount for shipping.

Can anyone confirm that the STB1 controller is the correct override switch?

Well I started the install. All doors except the drivers door works. I could really use some advice. I think I have the correct wire, but for the life of me it won't activate. I think i have the right blue wire, but no go on the drivers door.

That is for the drivers side rear door which is working fine. I am having issues with driver front door that connects to blue wire in 20 pin connector near E brake pedal. Rear door works fine and is connected to red wire up higher... just realized the pic was the wrong photo. Sorry deleted the photo

Sorry to hear of your troubles. My box has arrived but I won't be able to get to the install until next week due to weather and work. Did you get the override switch as well??

Got it figured out. Override did not arrive yet, but the boards are in and work beautifully. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions and I can help clear things up.

Can’t thank everyone enough for the hints and pictures. Installed mine today and it was super easy. The hardest part was routing the wires.

**For those of you doing this on your own I did have one issue.**

I got all the wiring done and I tested it out. The driver side worked as advertised but the passenger side was stuck in the down position. When I opened either passenger door I could hear the motor engage but it would not retract.

I pulled just the motor off and open the doors. I say the motor move one way but not the other.

So, I called AMP and they told me to swap motors and see if the problem followed. I was skeptical at first, but I was like ok.

Swapped the motors and sure enough the motor worked as it should. The guy at AMP told me to unplug all the harnesses leading to the module and make sure there were no lose wires. I then plugged it all back in and tried the original motor on the passenger side, worked perfectly. It’s all wired up and working like it’s supposed to.

If anyone has this same issue just try checking all the connections and make sure they are in tight also recycling power(unplugging it and plugging it back in) seemed to do the trick.

    Cheers

    Dave
