Just finished installing the NSV Hood Bulge Light Bar.

I researched extensively and watched @Headlight Revolution install videos at length, several times.

    ***********************
Update**** After driving it for a day I noticed a few things I’m trying to get worked out with @Headlight Revolution

1)With my headlights in the off position both of the lightbar’s DRLs flash when I use either blinker

2)With my headlights in the Auto position during the day both DRLs flash when I use either blinker

3)With Headlights on the bar seems to operate as designed with the exception of the headlight DRLs not being illuminated. Full disclosure I guess I never looked to see if the headlight DRLs were on when the headlights were on. Maybe someone could answer that?

    **************************

A few things that may help the next person looking to install this light bar:

    1) Put pin 8 in the pin 3 slot and you’ve got strobe on the DRL Switch (maybe this is why I’m having the above issues?)

    2) (huge!)When running the interior harness go through the firewall first so you can pull all the slack through and have ample space to pin the 6 pin connector. Then pull it back from the interior to finish running the harness. Trying to pin the connector 6” from the firewall was a pain in the ass.

    3) 2018+ Getting to the headlight motor plug was a huge pain. Ended up taking the headlight out to do this. If someone knows a better way to remove that plug and tap the purple wire. Please share.

Numbers 2 and 3 had I done them right off the bat would have saved me at least 30 minutes.

@cook2kill Did your light bar come with the connector that goes on the cut blue wire, and also the blue T-tap for the purple wire? My kit doesn’t have either item.

I will say I discovered today that when I turn on my blinker both DRLs on the light bar flash. Seems like it would be confusing for oncoming drivers and mostly illegal.

I do believe I have wired it correctly but who knows. Waiting on an answer from @Headlight Revolution in his thread.

Did you cut the blue wire on the headlight T harness like what the instructions said? Also what did you connect the headlight T harness to? Since I have a '18 platinum the video was different with connecting the headlight to the split on the harness. I pretty much got everything done besides connecting the headlight harness part and using the t-tap since the purple wire is a pain to get to like you said. Didn't want to start snipping wires before I mess something up.

Cut the blue and jumped to the purple as per the ‘18 instructions. Talking with @Headlight Revolution now. I’ll update when we get it figured out.

Can somebody who’s wired an ‘18 help me with this part?
    FD386005-A576-4E21-BB1D-E77B19D13EE2.jpg
Step 2: “Using the blue wire junction populate connector on the ends as shown in step 2.”

I’m not sure I did this step correct because my lightbar DRL’s are not working. What I did was cut the blue wire between the plugs, T-tap the other end of the blue wire, and connect that T-tap to the T-tapped purple wire. The picture in the instructions in step 2 is confusing...what’s the second blue wire coming out of the connector?

^^^watch from 13:00. He explains it. Sounds like maybe you tapped the wrong part of the harness but I don’t know without seeing it.

    @Headlight Revolution ...
I purchased the lightbar from you and have been working with Jensen of NSV Auto for about 8 weeks to get this fully functional on a 2019 with LED headlights. After all said and done, all features are now working EXCEPT for the swipe effect when arming and disarming the alarm. Jensen says this is no longer available on the 2nd gen bars. This is the cool effect of the light bar and referred to as the “Knight Rider” effect. Hope there’s a solution to this. Thanks.

@rmvcard0303 I know exactly what you are referring to. So Jensen said to remove pin 2 and pin 9 I believe. Pin 2 is the swipe function when disarming/arming. Just repinn post 2 and you’ll be good. The only one I left unpinned was number 9 which caused the drls to always be on.

Just as an FYI it uses the drivers side turn signal to function so if you are on the high way and give a quick turn signal (2 or less clicks on a turn signal) it will trigger the swipe function like its arming or disarming. That’s the one downside to having the arm/disarm function.

@cook2kill did you ever get a solution from HR? I just got my NSV this week and was curious if just repining the connector would activate the strobe function.

Although if it is going to cause some other problem I'm gonna leave it be.

@TopNotch repining the connector works to gain the strobe function. If I remember correctly it swapping pin 3 and pin 8. The connection to the headlight was my issue. The directions on that part for 18+ trucks are unclear at best and wrong at worst. I did get mine working as it should and couldn’t be happier with the result. I love the fit and finish of that thing and it throws a ton of light. I was out on dirt roads in the middle of nowhere and it made it seem like midday in a desert.

I'm talking with Jenson today about how wrong the directions to install these have been. He is saying nothing need be cut or tapped... which contradicts the latest downloaded instructions.

@Toyotoholic i think that’s what they are saying moving forward to alleviate install issues. Truth is you can get more functionality jumping the headlight wires. Mine swipes on lock/unlock, has swipe, strobe, beam function and has DRL when lights are on.

Do you have a brief break down of what it exactly took to achieve that? I read the repin 3-8 thing for the strobe, but what else ? How are you getting the bar on without the highs just the lights.

Just got the NSV for a new 2019 Limited. Completely confused on the headlight connection. I have 2 harnesses included, a short one with 4 ends, and the long one with two ends that appear would fit the headlight and headlight motor. Which one do I use and do I need to cut anything? Help appreciated!!! I'm lost.

    Thanks in advance!

Hi I installed my nsv light bar on my 2019 Trd Pro which I purchased early March 2019 and got it mid April 2019 and I didn’t have to splice any wires at the headlamp cause it came with a 4 connector harness all I had to do was cut the blue wire at the turn signal if u don’t it will illuminate that amber bulb so what I did was just de pinned it at the connector in case I want to put it back to original. The only thing I don’t like is that I wired the power wire on the switch panel to the cig lighter plug so my DRL on the light bar stay on wen I have the key to Acc position engine off, I finally received my usb harness so I will try to find a power wire that turns off with key on Acc like that I won’t have to turn off DRL on panel

Not sure on the 19's I have a 17' and an 2nd gen light bar. The two harness is the 3rd gen light bar which is not suppose to need any cutting, but I can't help with a definitive answer.

Checking back in on my install of a 3rd generation NSV on a 2019 Limited with auto LED headlights. First of all, thanks to @cook2kill , his tips were spot on. I had to pull the headlight to get to the motor connector and also used his tip on pulling the extra wire through the firewall to pin the connector, saved a bunch of time. Outside of that, followed the instructions in the manual and everything ended up going smoothly. Did cut the blue wire on the connector to the headlight (not the headlight motor). This was required to keep the amber off. Couple of other points, when the headlights are in "Auto" mode, the NSV will NOT ignite, you have to have it on the manual setting. The NSV ignites when you press forward to turn on high beams in manual mode only. Swipe on lock/unlock work as do DRL's. I did wire the taps into the cigarette lighter (left one) and mine does NOT stay on with the vehicle off. So far I leave the "Lightbar" and the "DRL" switches on all the time and they work when intended and stay off with the key out. Thanks everyone for your assistance, it's working and looking great. Very, very bright at night.

Guys I need help. I’m at the finish line but can’t get DRL’s to work. My kit didn’t come with t taps for the headlights. It came with a harness.

**** Edit**** I did pin 8 to 3 in order to get the strobe. Not sure if this is causing the issue.
