Black went to the bolt by the gas pedal
Red went to an add-a-fuse on the constant 30 amp in the fuse box.
I didn’t feel like tapping into the Illumination system, so the other two went to the heated seat fuse in the fuse box.

Thank you for the great write up. If I get a near new or new truck . I was planning on adding these leather seats to the SR5 package and save about ten grand. My only tip I can offer you is protection from Lexol. Has worked great for me with my last three Toyota’s. Plus recommended by Toyota and Lexus to protect their vehicles. May great Karma shower you with great things for clueing us in on how to this.
    Love yours. D

Just wanted to update everyone now that I’ve had these a while.

I love the leather. They fit snug and are so much more comfortable.
The fronts heat up quickly. The rears take a bit longer, but only by a minute.
They all get warm enough that my gf actually lowers the setting after a while. She never did that on the previous vehicle with factory heat.
All in all, I’m very pleased with the functionality of the heaters as well.

Just want to say thanks for your thread. I did mine last weekend, following your step by step with some Alea leather with the TRD logo and they turned out awesome. I got the same heater kits you did, but I put massagers in my front seats when I had the covers off.

    I bought these covers:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/303011470253?ViewItem=&vxp=mtr&item=303011470253

I bought the same heaters you did.

And I got a couple of these used on ebay, cut the motors out, and use the controllers to control them.

Did your kit come with the upper door skins as well? If so how difficult were they to install?

It did come with the upper door skins, and a center console skin.

I'm putting some speakers in my doors in the next few weeks so I was going to look at what the process would be to install them then. The current skins are a black fake leather that look somewhat similar, so if I don't think I can do it well I might just leave them be. I've never done it before, so I'm not sure if I should glue it to the existing vinyl or pull it off and glue it to the shell. I know installers use 3M Heavy Duty 20 adhesive, so I was going to use that either way.

First off, I would like to apologize for my ignorance I am an accountant not a mechanic.

So to my understanding, I have two harness that look like this. They both have those 3 loose wires at the end. I am guessing I will have to combined them and hook them up as follows-
    - Both black- will go to a ground
    - Both red- will go to a tap a fuse (I know the OP said 30 but how do I know if this is the appropriate power for mine)
    - Both White- will go to the seat heater fuse inside the cabin

Any help will be greatly appreciated since I plan on doing this in the upcoming week.

Once again I apologize for my ignorance and I will gladly help out with any taxation questions lol image.jpg

Yes that's exactly right. A 30A fuse will be plenty for seat heaters.

The white just hooks to any accessory line so that your heaters will turn off if you turn your truck off. The seat heater fuse just happens to be an empty one you can use.

The red is what will actually carry the load to your heating elements. This can be any powered line. That's the one you want to be on the 30A line.

One more question. My red wire currently has a 10amp that came installed on the harness. Since that is the wire I will be attaching to the tap-a-fuse is it ok if I leave the fuse there or should I cut it off and connect the wire directly to the piggy back? If you’re using a tap, you can cut it off....or keep it if you really want. Either way will be fine.

I pulled the door skins off, and it would require plastic welding, which I've never done, so I think I'm just going to leave those as is for now.

There are videos on youtube showing plastic welding, and you can get plastic welding kits at harbor freight for relatively cheap if you wanted to try it. https://youtu.be/t7Rardz_m8Q?t=181

Anyone know what the difference between the Katzkin leather and the Katzkin ALEA leather covers are?

Not sure if that is a typo, but it's just Katzkin or Alea. They are different companies. Their fit, quality, and warranty is the same. In the case of the Tundra, Alea does provide the door panel parts. That doesn't matter if you are just going with a factory match color, but if you went with contrast stitching, it would be nice to have the doors match. And if it matters to you, Alea does not put that branding tag on the side of the seat.

If you're talking about the little cloth tag that says Alea Leather, Alea does have that tag on the side of the seat. At least on the ones I purchased from you on ebay.

Yes you’re correct. I forgot they do add their tag to the custom made kits. They do not add it to the factory match high volume kits, which is what we deal with the most.

I got the same set. It's a split button. So the right half of the circle controls the right seat, the left half controls the left seat. Press once for high, again for low, again for off.

@AlmightyCrash is there any way that airbag deployment could be jeopardized in a future accident? I'm on the fence about doing this install myself or paying the man. I checked with a local shop (non Katzkin dealer) and they told me they'd charge me around $300 or so for the install for fronts and rears. I may just have them do it since the install price is pretty reasonable. I just worry if myself or someone would screw up something with the airbags. Easy to do or am I just worrying too much? Nice writeup btw.

These covers are made to work with your airbags, and are just like your oem covers....just a different material.

As for deployment during install, make sure you disconnect the battery before doing anything else.

Thanks. I guess I was talking more along the lines of something be messed up during the install that would hinder the correct operation of the airbags when needed. So it seems that really the only thing someone could screw up is forgetting to reconnect the airbag wiring connector once completed.

For those that have installed these, what size hog rings should be used? 3/8, 1/2 or 3/4"?? eBay is having a 15% off sale today and I'm pulling the trigger.

Update- I went with 3/4" hog rings and pliers ($16.59), black Katzkin ($550+20), and Sojoy 18.9"x11" heater ($61.74) with the single switch like OP for $554.08 delivered after the 15% off.

The OP's link to Amazon for the Sojoy heater is dead, and since i was getting 15% off on eBay, here's the link to the heater kit: https://www.ebay.com/itm/262801977601

I believe my hog rings were 3/8”, but it really doesn’t matter. They wrap around themselves and all end up the same size when tight.
