Text to speech sometimes doesn't work very well meant to say if you have courtesy lights in your door anyway I just did this to my 08 tundra and wired up my puddle lights in my mirrors tap right into the courtesy light, and it will be a short wire run.

Why not just tap into the positive and negative wires of the courtesy light, why go under the truck

And I still cant decide of I want the amber part hooked up to the signals or not .That would kinda be nice because cars next to me at night sit right beside me when I'm trying to get over even when I do have signal mirrors.

    How
I used these for my pop-n-lock, tapped in the passenger kick. Only thing better in my eye is soldering or a dedicated power.

I’m actually liking this mod. I think I would want them attached to my cargo light so that I could turn them on without the dome lights coming on. This way you could use them as a cheap rock light when trailing at night.

Great point ! I would use them alot that way because of camping also when turning on the cargo light I will be able to see where I'm walking also.

Here some working pictures of the one I did. I dont have pictures of the wire I tapped in to though. Theres a rubber grommet underneath the carpet in all four floor boards (Driver, Driver Rear, Passenger Front, Passenger Rear) I did all of my passenger lights and came up the passenger front grommet. (Drilled a whole just barely big enough for the conduit to pass through) then underneath the carpet and around behind the dash to the driver side kick panel. Driver side was the same through the grommet and then to the scuf plate. I tapped the positive into the cargo wire. And the ground to the trucks ground behind the kickplate. I can take pictures of that tomorrow if you need them.

Thanks! I'll see if I can get a picture tomorrow of the wire. If you search the forums here someone has a great picture of the whole harness and they show which wire. It helped me out. I tapped the wrong wire first (still dont know what it was for lol) but they didnt work. Got it right the second time though.

Not the greatest picture, but heres one. This wire is by itself, not twisted or braided with any others.

Heres the picture @NewImprovedRon posted of the wiring harness, the cargo light wire is the one on the right. The little 20g ? 22 maybe brownish purple wire.

That looks like it. If you have the positaps or even a ttap you can check it. If its not it just make sure to use some electrical tape over the wire where you tapped it.

I ran the ground to the ground screw behind the kick plate on the drivers side. Its the black wire that comes off the lights. Red is your positive that goes to the cargo wire.
