I've read through a lot of posts this past week. So many they are running together. I've figured out the stock rims I have are a +60 offset. I've also seen posts saying this fits and that fits and some say they don't fit on the different tire sizes.

I don't want to use spacers or change rims or trim and cut.

I want to get as close to 35" as possible.

I'm having the factory TRD lift done to the truck. So my questions I have are these:

I'm looking at the Falken Wildpeak A/T4W sizes:
    285/75/R18 - 35" overall diameter 11.6" wide
    295/70/R18 - 34.3" overall diameter 12.2" wide
    35/11.5/R18 - 35" overall diameter 11.5" wide
    All measurements per their website.

So question #1: Does anybody have these sizes and running these on the factory 18" rims I posted a pic of and no rubbing , cutting, trimming etc.?

Question #2: How come when I punch in the sizes above on tiresize.com heights are right but the widths compared to the tire website is different? Almost a 1/2" wider
    ex.285/75/18 tire size says 34.8 x 11.2
    ex. 295/70/18 tire size says 34.3 x 11.6

On the Nitto Ridge Grappler site they are pretty close to tiresize.com.

Question #3: So is this just a manufacture thing where one does the tread width and another does the sidewall bulge to show overall width?

If you are running these tire sizes with no rub at full lock can you post a pic of your rim/tires and list what size you are running?

I just want to make sure I'm getting the size I want and will work when I order my tires.

    Thanks

No. But I have 275/70/18 on trd pro wheels and I didn’t cut nothing trim nothing push nothing. Good luck. 34x11.5 should be your goal.

295/70r18. Sidewall says 34.5x11.5. Fit stock height. Running 1” cornfed up front
Fuel mileage took a hit, put them on day 2 so I don’t know besides what other people are claiming on stock tires.

The challenge with those +60 ET offset wheels is that when you put bigger tires on, they can introduce rubbing on the suspension parts. If you go with an offset like "0 ET" and a bigger tire, you would probably get rubbing on the mud flaps and wheel well liner.

So if you want a bigger tire ideally you should look at a wheel with a different offset like around +30 ET which is close to what comes on the TRD Pro.

Then what Tom says about the 34" tire should be a good fit.

You could go to the tire shop and get them to test fit the tires you are looking at to see if you get rubbing and that would be the best way to get what you want the first time.

Any big chain store will not mount or sale you a tire that’s rubbing or shows red on their screen. It’s a liability for them. Just like patching a nail puncture on side wall of tire.

the 2 specs show the at3w 11.9 and the at4w 12.2 on widths
thats why I'm confused because you said our tire says 11.5 on it

295mm is 11.6”. Not sure on the at4w but they should be same size one would think.

The AT4W has a little more on the sidewalls sort of like a tread to offer a bit more grab in certain conditions. Probably would be wider and a bit heavier but I haven't compared specs. I have the AT3W's on my Airstream and I like them! But I am not rock crawling with the Airstream. :)

So I guess another question would be.

Is there a height to width you can compensate for ex. say a tire is 34.3 high and 12.2 wide or 35 high x 11.6 wide where they both would work the height makes up for lack of width and vice versa?

One issue for these OEM 18 inch I found when looking at bigger tires is that they are narrow... the wheel width is outside the range (smaller) specified by the tire mfgs. Might not be a deal breaker I guess, but not ideal, especially from an on road handling perspective.

Hold on to your hat, this kit is over $9k CDN when ordered as an accessory on Toyota.ca. $7k is a deal :) With those prices I would be inclined to go to an IKON, King or other setup.

I'd like to go taller than wider to fill up the wheel well a little more.

Right, I understand, but taller tire of similar section ratio is also going to be wider. I was looking for 285/65 and 285/70, IIRC, which are 20mm taller than the stock 265s but then they were too wide for these 18" wheels according to the tire mfgs' tables. These 18 inchers are just narrow. Tire Rack has that info in the detailed specs. IIRC they wheels are 7.5" wide... the 285/70s might be OK. Just looking again some of the Load Range E's would work. Just barely.

I haven’t had any issues with my 295’s on factory 7.5” wide wheels.

Goodyear lists their 295/70r18 tires as good for rims from 7.5-10”.

Falken also lists a 7.5-10” approved rim width for 295’s

295/70/18 BFG KO2’s on the stock 18” wheels. No rubbing whatsoever even at stock height. Pic is after adding 1” Cornfed leveling spacers up front.

Those look good... and the min rim is 7.5". But load range E. How do they ride, how noisy are they, and what effect on MPGs? I want that size but in a road version like LTX M&S not load range E... but no one makes them.

The ride is a little bit harsher, but it still rides much smoother than a leaf spring truck. They are not noisy at all. They are fairly heavy at 65#. Yes they are going to kill MPG some, even a non-E 295 will. I can’t say how much as I haven’t yet taken a long drive since they were installed, but I’m expecting an ~3 mpg drop based on other’s experiences. The OEM tires are super light-weight (and crap) so any other tire you put on there is going to be some mpg penalty.

As you already stated, good luck finding a 295/70/18 that isn’t a load range E, at least in A/T tires.

My highway mpg is 15 at 70mph. Worse than my 2020 tundra with 275/65/20 ko2’s.

Nitto makes the Recon Grappler in a SL version in a 295/70/18 size. Much lighter than the E load range
