This paring knife has a 3” blade and handle scales from American Chestnut. I dyed the chestnut green and stabilized the wood. It is a dying species and will become rare over time.IMG_1290.jpg IMG_1289.jpg IMG_1288.jpgThe interesting thing about this one is that the client supplied me with the wood, which is from near his place in Pennsylvania.

I’m really amazed at how cool this American Chestnut looks. Did not expect that from looking at the boards he gave me, it seemed kinda bland. Sure am glad that I have more of it

It has a unique look for sure. Plus, green or orange typically grab my attention with these things.

I like it. Extremely sharp. But It’s a big hefty knife. Not something I’d want to pocket carry regularly.

I’ve been collecting and having some for users and others more for safe queens, I personally keep this in the later category.

That’s why I’ve hesitated. It seemed like it may be awkward to carry.

This experiment is working out so far…
I’ve got 4 distinct and different patterns in the steel. The core is ball bearings. I’m interested in how this works when I complete the edge bevel.
I’m undecided about whether this should be a clip point. Any suggestions?

Tim, that’s a nice cleaver. Knivesranch does decent work. Solid steel and made in America. Were you able to go to their shop for it? They’re located in Texas
