Yeah, to think of all the real journalism on TV, Radio, and Newspapers we have lost, not to mention actual authors of books, mostly all gone, and it’s heartbreaking. You ever find an old magazine or newspaper from the 80’s or something, read it, and shake your head at what the Internet has done to us as a society. Sure, it has done a good amount of amazing things, but we are all doomed to poor memories, short attention spans, and an ungodly amount of wasted and lost time worshipping instagram unrealities, porn, you tube, Reddit, talking to Bots? lol yep, that’s what we do…………

Orwell’s 1984 and Huxley’s Brave New World were telling the future, and it’s here.

While engines can and will fail for reasons other than the bearings, this is concerning.

Well, there goes my peace of mind buying a '24. Seems reliability/quality (cheap plastics, rattles/squeaks, paint issues, finicky electronics, and engine failures) is a thing of the past. Toyota is dragging themselves & their reputation down to the lowest common denominator of the Big 3 (Stellantis, Chevy/GMC, Ford) as far as quality & reliability. I had the V35 engine in my LS500 and did not see the rampant reports of engine failure on those forums; nor did I hold my breath every time I started that car like I do now. Variations of the V35 have been out since 2017/2018. I would think the manufacturering process would be mature by now. Additionally, there are few if any reports of engine failure in the LX forums. Both the LS & LX are manufactured in Japan; maybe that's the variable plaguing the Tundra.

I get the concern but saying "pretty much confirmed" doesn't mean it's truly confirmation of the same problem. Of course it could be, but the complaints about this seem to have fallen off dramatically since I joined this forum last August. Every model year of every car/truck produced is going to have a few problems so that's what I'm hoping for in this case. Just trying to keep positive.......

I echo your sentiment 100%. My ‘24 has been in for service SIX times in less than three months of ownership. They still can’t figure out how to remedy window movement/window noise on the driver’s side, I’ve had multiple window seals replaced, window control bezel rattles, loose interior door handle, paint chips on the tailgate, misaligned tailgate, loose trailer pin connector, etc. That’s just the quality control stuff. Mechanically, I’ve had the active spoiler motor replaced, and now my truck has to be in for another 4-5 days for a rear differential replacement. My truck feels like a ticking time bomb at this point.

Looks like I will be waiting a few more years for a used one. 2025 or newer at this point, only if they finally get the issues resolved.

I do believe all the work towards lower emissions and safety to overcome drivers that won't stop staring at their phones is killing long term reliability industry wide.

Is there a simple stripped down reliable vehicle anymore? Even the Camry is going full hybrid. At least it is a non turbo model which Toyota does really well. Hybrid/atkinson cycle motor.

If you want to see the future of Toyota's cost reduction strategy (TNGA) and their prioritization of fuel economy, turbos, and hybridization over true QDR, just take a look at what's happening with these Tundras. Cheaply made and assembled interiors, blown engines, faulty mechanical parts, etc. Unfortunately, the automotive industry and consumers now have the cell phone industry mentality of trading in every other year. These products are no longer made to last.

sorry you're having troubles, but just because you are having problems doesn't mean everyone is or they are all like that.

my interior is not cheaply made or cheaply assembled IMO, its super nice.

again, not trying to minimus your issues, it sucks whenever something isnt right.

You have a Platinum? I would expect it to be super nice and sorted. But yes, I agree with you; they’re not all like that, but a lot of them are. More than you’d think.

I have a 2022 SR5... the interior and turbos are what won me over compared to a Sierra 1500. I guess it's all personal opinion but I don't get the whole "shit on the entire truck" mentality. Don't buy it or trade it if you don't like it. A lot of people on here are owners that love their trucks.

I’m one of those , this thing is great so far , but I’ve liked all my tundras , none were perfect though and neither was my ram but I liked that too

I don’t get the people that are that unhappy, just trade it or sell it or whatever, life is too short to piss around with a machine you don’t like

I’m not shitting on the entire truck. I’m just sharing my honest opinion and pointing out the issues my truck is having that are not unique to my 2024. I bought it because it drives great, it’s comfortable, and it does all the truck things well. I’m glad that a lot of owners love their trucks. I also loved mine before it started falling apart and constantly wasting my time with service visits.

ya that sucks man, you’ll just have to decide on what’s enough and lose it and chalk it up to a not great experience

or stick with it and give Toyota a chance to fix things , they usually stand behind their trucks for the most part , that’s part of why we all buy them

I agree. I’ve been in close contact with Toyota brand engagement, and they have been working directly with the service manager. A positive experience, really. We’ll see if they’re able to sort out some of these issues and see how the truck drives after the rear differential is replaced. I’ll keep y’all posted.

Good deal , I would give them a chance to fix it

I took my ram in with a few problems and they told me cool ya , that’s just the way it is , sorry . That was a part of why I didn’t buy another one

    Nothing.
I'm curious if the disassembly/reassembly will fix some or all the build quality issues these trucks came with from the factory? There has to be an upside, right?
