Some people don’t want to wait for a full cycle to wash a handful of dishes.

He’s got a rental unit. You don’t care what goes down the drain as long as you move out before it becomes an issue.

We've never used our dishwasher in our house.

I'll turn it on about once a month just to keep it operational in case we do want to use it later

I use mine like once a month. Maybe less but that’s to keep mold from growing inside since I store my hand washed dishes there while they dry. Dish rack isn’t big enough.

When I was a kid, my brother and I were the dishwasher. Even in houses that had a dishwasher.

My parents are worse. They make you wash your food trash so it’s free of food residue before it goes in the trash because they don’t want to attract bugs and vermin to the trash barrels in the garage.

I don't understand all the hate for a dishwasher. It does the job well, saves time/effort/water, and sanitizes with temps hot enough to kill the brain worms on that plate you cut the raw pork on. What's not to like?

Yep. Proven to use less water than washing by hand. We run ours every week. I wash big items by hand.

Do tell more. How long does it take to get hot water compared to a tanked heater? 5 seconds, 30 seconds, 90 seconds? And at that speed, how far is the spigot from the heater?

The one pictured is not yet functional (gas line connected last week, that was a bear, still have to button back up the insulation from that effort, want to do a little bit of electrical first, hence the delay). Plumber has been the challenge, I'm 0/5 on getting one to show up. My water heater guy did 90% of his part, just didn't have the valve kit (home depot was OOS, had to go to a different home depot to get the kit he liked).

Have one at the house, though, and it's good. There is a 1 gallon buffer tank and it can do a recirc loop if you plumb it (we did at the house). The better the recirc loop, the less delay with hot supply. Buffer tank is a solid guarantee of no cold sandwich (which can be a problem for washing machines which pulse on hot water). Can set temp as low as you want it and run full hot for max efficiency, 120 is a good number there, or 110 if it's warm. We have ours at 125 at the house for the dishwasher primarily I believe. A small booster under the kitchen sink might be worthwhile as well, but the one I have for my shop sink is too wimpy for big time use.

Overall pretty happy with it, showers, bath, dishwasher, laundry all super normal. The pain is gas supply line and proper venting/intake. It sucks the gas so you want 1" black iron to the unit if possible (my long run is 100' or so of 1" CSST off the black iron on the wall, hence a total B but it's done.)

That sounds really awesome. Do you know how picky they are with the gas supply? My house was built in 1926 and many of the gas pipes are original.

Otherwise that sounds fantastic- but if new gas lines would be required I doubt it would be worth it over a normal one for us.

My guy ran new black iron from the meter at the house since the existing feed was for the furnace and range. You want to go as far upstream as possible and 1" at a minimum, black iron over flex if possible.

With that said, it likely would run fine off 3/4" and especially for small junctions no big deal but the lame thing is spending several grand to have it choking on gas b/c 200k btu is a lot of heat and who wants to spend money to get weak performance.

It does limit volume output if you overload it (run bath at full hot, dishwasher, laundry, and try to open the hot at the sink to wash dishes. It's not able to beat the basic laws of physics or anything.

Here as I was just glowing up UPS with love on my recent wins. Trying to get some damn RF splitters to finish cabling my data closet, they were supposed to be here yesterday. What the hell is this bullshit? scAmazon is telling me they're arriving on 4/30 now. Like, what the hell? Seriously?

Tracking info makes it look like they're stuck in a damn revolving door at the UPS warehouse. Yesterday it left after it already left, then returned again. Like, what in the actual shit is going on here?

Ok, n/m I guess it's just scAmazon's tracking info is gimped af. I'll never use their tracking info again. This almost makes more sense. I guess it didn't get scanned in when it arrived in Jersey.
