Yes...but with an asterisk, haha. It reminds me of a cross between mashed potatoes and eggs. You can taste that there's egg in it no doubt, but if you're ok with seasonings that some would consider not strict carnivore (chives and extra sour cream would be one good example), or you're keto and have a good gravy recipe, they can certainly hit the spot.

Just started this week! So far my blood sugar levels have been the flattest my ENTIRE adult life! I've noticeably more energy, fewer cravings, and first time ever NOT craving sugary foods / snacks! :eek2: Took me a few years to figure out that 'Enriched grains' where giving me HORRIBLE acid reflex, Enriched grains are the basses of just about everything that's not a meat or plant

If my energy and focus improvements continue this'll be a 95% of the time Proper Human Diet. Don't let it take over all of your life, but your body weight in grams of carbohydrates, or less, per day, guarantee's extra weigh loss!

Just be careful about thinking of it as a weight loss diet though, it's entirely possible to wind up putting on a bunch of muscle and be heavier yet still leaner in fat percentage.

Fat lose is the goal here, i hear you on the weight side, in my early 20's i gained 40lbs of muscle ( 2hrs gym every day, no cardio) so I'd be in the "morbidly obese" range just to make my Dr shit the bed, he didn't laugh, but i still chuckle 18 years later. That BMI chart is such obsolete garbage...

I did the carnivore for about 6 weeks, and it was great. It was the only time I've not been starving, and I definitely lost fat. I don't own a scale, because I don't care about how much I weigh. I care about how I feel and how my clothes fit. Losing 2 holes on my belt in that time was awesome, and I need to get back on it again.

I did, keto, paleo, etc. I lost great weight but always managed to put it back on as i would get bored with the restrictions.

Since April 2022 I just did calorie count and lost 80 lbs in 10 months and have kept it off to date. I do a ratio of 15% carb, 35% fat and 50 % protein

Ive been on the “obese” end of that chart my whole life no matter how much muscle or fat I’ve had, with the exception of ONE time (well, three separate times with in a two year period). That was after having malaria and losing 45 lbs in two weeks. Talk about the suck. I was miserable and had no energy or ability to any kind of work. Just walking took serious effort. But I was where I was supposed to be according to BMI…

I played sports year round and wrestled in high school with a verified 3% body fat; BMI chart still said I was obese. Such a load of horse baloney. I ask my doctor for a body fat analysis whenever he tells me I’m obese. Conveniently, their machine is always broken when I’m there. So I challenge him to a thumb wrestling war to settle it. He has yet to accept. Maybe I’ll try leg wrestling or an 1800’s stick pull next time…

    Sorry for the digression…

Probably believe the opposite . :monocle:

Flip the food pyramid upside down. Lots of healthy fats, low carb and no sugar. Stay away from grains. Not advice, just how I try to eat. :)

    Filter your water and supplement:
    D
    Mg
    Kelp
    Fish oil

    Take a good probiotic.

No, I’ve heard the same thing about the Duke. Made for some good potty humor given his nickname… But just a rumor made up by prolly the same folks that say meat and eggs are bad for you and your cholesterol should be as low as a starving persons. I happened to hear a doctor explain that for a persons colon to be full of 38 pounds of anything it would certainly kill then. The problem is, the only way for a person to get 38 pounds of stuff in their colon is for it have been inserted rectally, and that a ruptured colon would have been the COD way before they got to 38 pounds… He put it more eloquently, but thinking back to my Anat and Phys labs, that makes a lot of sense. That’s like trying stuff two large thanksgiving turkeys up one’s hind quarters…

From my understanding, a vast majority of beef doesn't even make into the colon, it's just about all absorbed before then. There's just a small amount of waste product. A small amount of indigestible, and some of the gut flora than has reached the end of it's life cycle.

No, no be all one thing is perfect, unless you eat every part, nose to tail.

There's even evidence for the fur! Without organ meat's, you'll be plenty like a laxatives

Another high protein diet, they have been around forever in one form or another. The only way to lose weight and keep it off long term is calorie control and moderate exercise.

The carnivore diet is a simple calorie control method, and that's why it works. I've done strict calorie control and, while it worked, I was always starving. That's not the case with the carnivore in my experience. It's the only diet I've been on that put me at a calorie deficit without me feeling perpetually hungry. I'm sure part of it is the psychology of it (eat as much as you want), and then there's the fact that it puts you into a natural intermittent fasting pattern.

Another benefit is that it is an excellent exclusion diet that can help you find things that were causing you issues. Cut out everything but the beef, butter, bacon and eggs for 90 days. Then add items back in one at a time to see if you get any of the old symptoms back. I'm not saying it's the only diet anyone should use, but to declare it "another high protein diet" is simplistic, inaccurate, and dismissive.

I started calorie control a few weeks ago along with intermittent fasting. At first I was starving all the time, now I'm just used to not eating as much. We are trained from birth to overeat in this country, it's surprising how little you can eat and still feel good.

    Down 13 pounds so far.

Congrats on the weight loss! Health and what works is definitely an individual thing, so I am happy that it works for you. I have noticed, that even after falling off the wagon I don't eat near as much as I did prior do my stint on the carnivore diet. That's part of why I want to get back on it. It helped me develop healthier habits.

    Thanks!!

I think anytime we put the effort into any kind of diet, it makes us more aware.

One day this past winter, I walked past a mirror and saw my grandfather. I was like, "holy shit, this is a crisis", lol.

Spring rolled around I said enough is enough, get your shit together or you'll be dead at 69 like him.

I'm gonna quote my own post for a 6 month update from the original response. So constant joint pain is gone. I do have pain from injuries and working on that separately. More than anything (kinda in line with an AIP protocol) I've spent a lot of time figuring out what works for me and what doesn't and I think it's an ongoing process. For example I LOVE beer. But if I'm eating clean and have one or two max , it's instant bloat and verified by 3-5 lbs heavier the next morning with a guaranteed crappy night of sleep. So, I've really cut back and no longer have my 5' o'clock-It's time to make dinner- beer. The better my diet is the more I find little shit affects me that I was never aware of.

-Mudbutt ...I didn't really ever have that but for a short bout I found a smoking deal on ribeyes and was was eating a ton of them back to back. Then it happened. It was purely too much fat. As soon as I limited to leaner protein and reduced cooking with butter everything was fine again.
-Veggies. I eat way more salads now just because I like them.
Probably in line more with Calories is I pay attention to how much I'm actually eating. I developed a bad plantar fasciitis from limping due to a knee injury which slowed me down. Even though I was pretty low carbs I started gaining weight during that time. I took some hard looks at portions and actual calories and realized what I thought was around 2k was more like 3k. So I dialed it back quite a bit.

I've added some black beans, fruits, and steel cut oatmeal occasionally. I no longer have protein smoothies in the afternoon. Some fruit with a meal seems to be doing fine for recovery nowadays and feeling good.

Basically a day looks like this :
Morning coffee with half and half

Sometime, whenever I'm hungry,I eat a meal (usually around 11-1pm)
If I can wait until after I work out I usually do.
Meal 1 : salad with whatever leftover from dinner, and a piece of fruit. or Egg, oatmeal, avocado and cucumber.

Meal 2: Usually Fish, Chicken, Pork, leaner steak with some broccoli or brussel sprouts and sometimes a sweet potato.

On days I'm really hungry or need a snack I'll have some nuts and kimchi.

If I go on a big 2-3 hr bike ride I'll eat Meal 1 prior and usually have two more meals in the day.

***I should add with the added fruit/veggies/fiber with leaner meat the LDL is down, BG stayed low, and HDL remained relatively high.

Paul Mason is a great follow. He brings the receipts when he gives speeches.

From my personal experience, fiber is totally unnecessary. I have eaten very little fiber for most of the last few years with zero side effects. The same fda and medical establishments that have lied to us about everything else are also saying fiber is healthy. Why exactly would we NEED to eat stuff that we cannot digest. That is just silly. We aren’t horses, we don’t need to keep rumen healthy.
