Looking at trading my 2008 4Runner 4x4 V6 SR5 with 240k for a 2017 Tundra TSS 4x4 CC with 90k. Price out the door after trade is $25k even. The truck is in great shape, new tires, good maintenance history. Southern truck. Seem like a decent deal? It’s listed at $32k.

If I needed to sell a mid-size SUV and get a full size truck, 2017 Tundra would totally fit it.

I would look at wear on brake pedal rubber for high city mileage and safety chain loops for towing use wear, paint gone, all towing miles.

That would be a good deal on the west coast if the truck checks out fine. Prices on 2.5's are insane over here.

For comparison: I got my Limited 2019 with 102k miles for $32k in October 2022. I have not tracked pricing since then, so I do not know how things have changed.

Yes. That’s a fair deal, although hate to see that old 4-Runner go

They are only giving you 7K for your trade? I would try to push for more than that, if you can squeeze another grand or two.

As far as the price of the Tundra, 32K with 90K miles and a 2017, that is also high to me. I can provide some input as I was searching for Tundras in a similar mileage range. Locally, I had found a 2020 Tundra TSS 4x4 with 70K miles for around 34K. So considering the one you found has 20K more miles, and 3 years older than the 2020 (7 years older to date), 32K seems high to me even in the current market.

If you can try and push for 30K OTD, that would probably be a better deal for you.

Check out this find for a similar year/mile/price.

32k seems pretty high to me. I'd sell my 4 runner private to squeeze more money out of it. 7 k for it from a dealer does seem fair.

Do you want the tundra for more towing capacity, etc? I guess the question is do you NEED a truck? Those 4Runners are bulletproof (as long as the frame doesn’t rust out like mine did). If there are no issues with the 4Runner, I would keep it even with the high mileage.

I would hold onto 4Runner too. 7k is all they’re offering. although, I love my 17 Tundra.

2 things that would be critical to me would be:

    -needs to be the 5.7L

-needs to have the 38 gallon tank

For comparison: I bought my 2016 Tundra TRD Limited DC this past April with similar miles, meticulous condition and records for $25K WITHOUT a trade, so purely IMO no I don't think that's a deal
