    Hi all!

Posting this as a follow up to my last post where some members recommended upgrading my rear leaf pack for my new suspension build, but had a few questions for the community.

I am currently going through the process of totally overhauling my 2020 4x4 SR5 Double Cab suspension.. So far I am at adding the Bilstein 8112/8110 combo, JBA UCA's, and also the 1"-1.5" Toytec Shackle. My question is for my build is the juice worth the squeeze to upgrade my rear leaf pack over stock?

I have read so many posts on leaf springs upgrades and cant really tell if it makes sense for my use case? My truck currently is used for 80% highway driving and 20% driving through rough Texas ranch roads. I currently have nothing really for added weight in the bed (other than a Hi-Lift and adding the ADD Stealth Fighter rear bumper which maybe weighs 120lbs.) and do no towing.. Maybe will have a few hundred pounds of mulch or something in the bed once in a blue moon, but 99% of the time its unloaded daily driver.

My main goal is to just achieve the best ride and suspension travel possible, but I cant really tell if upgrading the rear pack is worth it for what I do. On top of that, it seems fairly complicated to me as theres so many different spring rates and variability in post install ride height. I really really don't want to go over 1.5" of lift in the rear as I really don't like the look of any rake (going to be at 3.25" in the front), so finding the appropriate height shackle / leaf pack combo that after settling hopefully leaves me @ 1.5" in the rear seems like a crapshoot?

I have heard some swear by the upgrade, some say its not worth it if I don't tow, so what say you fellas? Any feedback or recommendations is greatly appreciated!!

I think keep what you have and replace the factory bump stop with something a little taller to prevent flattened springs when you do load up. Simply because the extended shackles will force the spring into a negative arch when loaded unless there is an adequate stop point.

Hey there I really appreciate the advice!! Ohh that is an interesting point, I wonder how that would work since the 8110's I believe are supposed to have that internal cutoff that acts as a bumpstop?

I have no advice on the 8112 but, to me the 6112 are not the greatest for on-road comfort. Bilsteins are digressive and are more suited for off-road use. Progressive shocks are better for comfort and then off-road. This is all from what I have read on A LOT of forums and from Accutune and Shock Surplus. I currently have an order in for Fox 2.5 Performance Elite w/DSC. The majority of stuff I have read, everyone either picks Fox or King, hands down. Have never done a whole leaf pack replacement, but did do a add-a-leaf once for height.

In my opinion, a good set of leaf springs is well worth the cost. Amazing difference.
