Work question. What would you do?

Long story short, I had to take a hiatus from retirement and return to work. I think you all know.

I am due for a level advancement at work which will, in effect, give me a raise. My boss is well aware.

My boss is avoiding me like the plague, but I am sincerely enjoying not having to interact with him. I am not paid the greatest but I'm not necessarily starving, at least not yet.

If you were in a similar situation, would you "poke the bear" for the advancement, or enjoy the peace, quiet and autonomy [and absence of bullshit]?

I am primarily after the benefits, but yeah I do need the money too.

 

Technically, I can retire now... I got combined time, but I will probably wait it out another 15-20 years, lol, so that I can dig into the early SS income.

In this time line, income is more crucial than any other time, but peace of mind probably trumps most of it, depending on where your lifestyle is.

 

I would be on his ass. But I don’t mind interaction, pleasant or otherwise. If I’m due, I’m due. I’ll speak up and get mine. But I will feel good about it knowing I’ve earned it.

 

I'm not afraid of the interaction so much as I like him leaving me the hell alone haha. I get so much more done when he is nowhere to be seen, and I can go for days without talking to people at work in general, which is a blessing. But the extra money would be great. If he would honor what he promised and leave me alone, that would be ideal. Can't have my cake and eat it too though.

You bring up a good point though, if I've earned it, then I've earned it and I need to hold his ass to it. Solid statement there for sure.

 

Not to budge into your private business, but is the raise big enough for you to lose sleep over (or otherwise be affected, emotionally and financially?)
If yes to either of the question then hurl ass and get his ass roasted for sure.
