Wiring diagram to connect tailgate lock to camper shell

I recently installed a Leer canopy with remote lock. The Leer dealer wired it per Leer's instruction, which allows it to unlock/lock from the key fob or front door handles or interior buttons.

However, the tailgate unlock button does not operate the Leer lock (the tailgate lock button does).

I use a credit card key fob (no buttons) and would like the convenience of unlocking the topper at the tailgate. Has anyone dealt with this and found a solutiin or wiring diagram? TIA!

 

Do you know what wires they tapped to use for the lock and unlock function and where they tapped them? I am trying to do a home install and trying to locate the correct wires. Thanks!

 

My understanding it is wired to the rear door locks.

Thanks for posting the wiring diagram. Im thinking you can unlock your canopy from the tailgate with a relay. One source from the lock unlock feature on the door and one from the tailgate. I think the relay would make it so the two signals do not talk to each other but will unlock the cap

 

The Leer dealer installed mine with it wired to rear door locks because they indicated the current draw for the lock on the shell couldn’t be supported by the electrical wire to the tailgate lock.
