This will probably seem like such a silly question, but I still want opinions!

I want to add a wireless charger to my 2016 (also replacing head unit for something with wireless carplay). I want the wireless charger to be up front, under the dash control panel. Like the scosche product I link below.

The "DIY" option is about 1/4 of the price and seems to take up less space. I guess the only downside is a little extra cord dangling around, but that's nbd to me. Especially in that area I should be able to easily hide it.

The Schosche product is cool and all, but why is it so big? Lol

Thanks. That is pretty nice! A little pricey. That is where I throw my phone when I get in the car, so that's probably a great place. I did notice one poster on here comment about how that's not the best place if you need to get into your console often.

is anyone running that Scosche unit or any other unit with the magnets to hold the phone in place and still can wireless charge?

I tried using magnets on my phone but the magnet prevented the wireless charge function from working properly.
Even tried moving the magnet around, but no go.
