I just purchased a wireless CarPlay dongle on Amazon and it actually works. It just plugs into the factory USB and turns your factory wired CarPlay into a wireless version.
Honestly, kind of surprised and excited it works. It boots up as fast, or at least very close to as fast, as the factory system boots to wired CarPlay.

Thought I'd share if anyone else is interested.

Is the one you linked to the actual one you got, for the Audi? Did you ask the seller about the Tundra to determine which one is best?

Yes, I bought the one for Audi. But that's because, best of my knowledge, there isn't any difference between any of them. I asked the seller if it'd work with a 2020 Tundra and they said they thought so, but didn't have one to test. They confirmed they worked on Toyota's in general. I also found where the seller confirmed that this unit is the same thing as https://carplay2air.com/. If you check that site, there's a long list of vehicles it works with and 2020 Toyota is listed. That site looked a little shady with its 'all positive' reviews. That's why I bought from Amazon...easy returns.
Anyways, it might crap out long term, and I'll update if so. But right now it works and is pretty great.

Awesome! Great find! I never know what I want for Father's Day, much to my wife and kids' chagrin. I think this fits the bill!

I just ordered it. 15 dollar off coupon puts it at 125 today on Amazon (same link as above). I'll let yinz know how it works. Hopefully have the same experience as @trd.james

I've had a carplay2air for about 4 months and it works well most of the time. I do have an issue with audio skipping. Sometimes it's a single skip and that's fine but after playing for about 15 mins lately it will skip 5-10x over 2-3 mins and that is super annoying. If I stop the audio and wait a few seconds it seems to go away - almost like the unit was having a hard time keeping up with the streaming. It has the latest update and otherwise works well. It has never failed to connect on startup.

I'd watch that price...I've seen it fluctuate quite a bit. @Sephon Got a good deal. I think I paid $130 or so and thought at the time that was about the best I'd seen it at.

I was told they were the same system, but I haven't experienced any audio skipping or lag. Maybe that's because mine is fairly new and the issues will come with age? I can't say. I haven't even checked to see if there is an update. I was honestly thinking "if it ain't broke...", so I'm leaving it alone.

Like you, I've also never had it not connect on truck start-up.

The only issue I've seen is occasionally there is a blue outline around something on the Dashboard. Like, if you are on the dashboard screen that has map left and muisc right, the map itself might be outlined in blue. I can post a picture of this if anyone cares to see. As soon as you interact with the screen, it goes away. It's almost like the headunit is showing you what's 'selected' or something? I'm not sure. A software update might fix it but I'm afraid it could introduce other issues and so far this one is very livable.

To add to this...it seems my car2play experiences the hiccup in sound in the exact same location every morning. I have full bars on phone but 100% of the time when I approach a particular area on the highway it starts cutting out. Originally, I thought it was time-dependent but the last few weeks I've been doing things before work and so I was way past the usual 15 mins in the truck it normally takes to get to this spot and regardless of the time it happens every time I drive through this area. Radio signal interference? Poor shielding? I don't know?

Interesting. Thanks for the info, I’ll be looking out for audio skipping.
I’m curious...do you have the blue outline issue ever?

    In the process of de-chroming....
Can someone who has this see if Android Auto works over it. I searched for the name of the product and Android Auto and found similar looking units that say they work. On a side note does any one know if a second working USB port can be added to the 2020's with Etune navigation? I've tried to to some searching but comes up with people adding USB for charging.

Looks like Amazon has a coupon code to apply which takes like $10 off. If you purchase the one from https://carplay2air.com/ and add coupon loyalty, its like $130 shipped.

OK, it dropped back to $159.99 for me. I don't see a coupon code though.

Did you try running the firmware update on that. One of the things they say they fixed is the audio skipping. Only had mine a couple days so far. The only thing I do not like it the toyota button in carplay is just plain while. No logo in there.

@PWMDMD do you or did you ever have the blue outline? I’m curious if an update fixed that.

Occasionally there will be a blue outline around the map section of the CarPlay Dashboard (Map on half of the screen, music and stuff on right half). Interacting with the head unit will make it go away. I’m not sure what causes it. It’s a mild annoyance I guess, but not really a big deal. It doesn’t come back once you’ve touched the screen and it disappears.

Does anyone else using the Cplay2air dongle have the plain white toyota button on their carplay screen? When connected with a wire it looks fine.

I think my icon is the Toyota logo, but I'll check. I moved that icon to like page three of carplay screens because I don't use it, just press the physical home button on the head-unit. But I am pretty sure I remember it being correct when I moved.

EDIT: I'm using the Carlinkit set-up, which may or may not be the exact same thing as Carplay2air

Does that adaptor work well? Maybe I will return mine and switch. They are all around the same price I think.

It works great. The only complaint I have is the blue outline that sometimes happens around the map on the home dashboard, right when you crank the truck. Once you touch the screen or interact with the head-unit, it goes away. I have the most up to date firmware, but still hoping a future update will fix that maybe?
    It's a mild annoyance.
The unit connects every time I turn on my truck, and doesn't have any audio skips or lag. Honestly, pretty flawless other than that blue outline.
I did check the logo, and it's like you described...it's white. So there is that.

Mine is working great so far. I just moved the toyota button to the second screen with other apps I do not use. So out of sight out of mind.

OK, please forgive me, but my ChinEnglish sucks.

I received my Carlinkit today and was able to connect to it just fine. I'd like to update the firmware to get the latest but the instructions have me scratching my head. Can someone who has figured this out please help? Here are the instructions from the manual, without the pictures:

    "Online Upgrade Instruction
The iPhone Wifi connect to dongle Wifi, and scan this QR code with iPhone camera, or input 192.168.50.2 in the iPhone browser.
Note: It must be the iPhone, and the iPhone can connect to the network."

That's it for the manual. I was able to scan the code (or enter the IP address) while the Carlinkit was connected to my Carplay USB port and the following page came up:
    IMG_5569.jpg

So, to follow these instructions, I assume #1. "Disconnect connection before upgrade" means to disconnect the Carlinkit from the truck. But once I do that, there is no power to the Carlinkit and I have no way to communicate with it. I have tried connecting the phone to the Carlinkit directly, including taking the Carlinkit inside and plugging it into a power source with the Carplay connector. At no point in time have I seen a Wifi connection to connect to, so there is no going past #2.

    Can someone please help?
