Last summer while having hail damage repaired, I had the shop replace my wiper arms as they were faded. Recently when the wipers are on and I hit a gust of wind, the wiper will change starting and stopping positions. Like the teeth are slipping. It may stop 6in before the end of the windshield or it may wipe a few inches off the windshield (only the driver side) do you think something just needs tightening or is the whole assembly trashed?

    thank you.

Sounds like the arms are moving on the splined shaft..In the park position, arms in proper place, "hold down the wiper arm hinge with your hand while tightening the nut." nut torque spec is 18 ftlbs. Don't think I'd do it that tight but that's me..

I sure hope it’s that easy! I will give it a shot, it’s tight enough I can’t loosen with my fingers, how much ugga dugga should I put to it?

Just updated my post after looking it up. Same thing happened on our Volvo during a rain storm on the expressway, bent one of the arms. They never properly tightened the nuts after windshield replacement..

Both seemed loose, so I guess time will tell.

    Thank you for the help!
