Wiper heater

Something I noticed when I was mouse proofing my truck. When I was taking the wipers off, I noticed two wires running up under the windshield and after removing the wipers I realized that they run to wiper heaters in the glass where the wipers sit. I never knew I had this feature and I don't even know how to turn it on. I thinking maybe when the defroster is on? Anyone know?

Another thing I wanted to share are these black vent covers and cub holder/shifter ring replacements. I don't like the stock chrome, so I replaced them with these black ones. The vent covers are really easy, they just stick over the stock ones. The company is AJT Design, they have other cool items and just came out with a black emblem overlay for the steering wheel, which I will be getting next. I have included some photos of mine.

 

I really want to ditch the chrome on my truck. Outside and inside. That looks really cool!

Regarding the wiper heaters, it comes on with the mirror defrost button. My truck had them. When my windshield was replaced last summer they brought a normal one even though I gave them the VIN. (Not Toyota dealer) I didn’t want to wait a week for them to order it.

There really wasn’t a single time it would have come in handy for me this winter either. I might think differently if I lived up north.
