IMO doesn't matter on ice. KO2 and Grabber A/TX are about same or even worse than LTX. In deep snow, yes, real knobby AT is way better than LTX.

Any size recommendations? My truck doesn't have a lift. Stock tires that came in my 1794 are 265/60/20. Would obviously like to go a little larger if I could without rubbing.

Actually for winter tires you are better off going narrower on your tire width. That said, I put 275/60/20 Blizzaks on my 1794 because they were the only winter tires in stock when I purchased my truck, they fit just fine with no rubbing.

Once I locate 4, 1 am going with DMV2 in 265/70-R18 on winter rims. They are virtually the same overall outer diameter as the stock 265/60-R20 on the vehicle now.

I have dedicated snow tires on Tundra steel wheels. I had a 75 mile daily commute, plus it’s saves my good wheels from salt. They use a lot of sand and salt in NH.

Hi 0w40, looking for the same tires in Calgary. Post if you have any luck finding them. I have been looking for a few weeks with no luck

I just picked up my winter tires 275/70/18 cooper snow claw on replica trd pro wheels, they came with those centre caps and the OEM lugs fit. Tires on the truck now are 295/70/18 cooper XLT for size comparison. I like winter tires for the softer rubber and to have a second set of wheels it’s like two trucks. I bought them in Canada, they came mounted and balanced as a complete package.

Studded Hakkas are very nice, running those in 315/70r17. I use Blizzaks on the other vehicles and Tundras previously, they are a very good all around winter tire. My summer Duratracs are laughably bad in rain, snow and ice vs the winter tires when I have tested them out, technically “3 peak mountain snowflake” haha. They were decent aired down in deep new snow, but slip on the ice present under the new snow vs studded alternatives.

I want to chime in that I have those same tires which are crappy and went over Wolf Creek Pass in CO last winter in a storm and had virtually no trouble. Drove in lots of snow last winter and the truck did just fine. Those tires are horrible and I will need a new set for this winter.

Also echoing for the 4 or 5th person to tell OP the the sensors will yell in every sticky snow event.

Another thing for the OP- if you’re coming from another manufacturer that has an “Auto” 4WD selection (excellent choice for typical winter driving) you will need to go back to shifting in and out when parking or turning. It’s not a big deal, but it took me a minute to get used to. I was coming from a GMC which had an Auto selection and it was really good for the few days post storm where you hit everything from dry pavement to packed snow to ice to slush in the Walmart parking lot. It would be pretty cool to have a LandCruiser type 4WD in these trucks, but get used to shifting as needed. 1st world problems no doubt.

Are you keeping most of the studs, or do they come out like other studded? Nokian studding system is supposedly better. Personally my truck winters are nokian r3. They are excellent.

I want studded this time around but can only find them locally in LT. I’d prefer P as they are cheaper and supposedly ride better. (Your Nokia s are LT?)

my wife’s rav has blizzaks. They are also good except roght around the half way of the tread they become an average winter tire.

but right now the only tires available are blizzak dm, or Hakka studded and non studded LT for the tundra

Rather than a 1st world problem I look at the shifting in and out of 4x as preventative maintenance on the 4x switching and t case. Lol

Yes these are Load D (LT) for 315/70r17, pretty much all tires in that size are C/D/E which makes it tough. I think these are the largest factory studded tires available. When I looked them over last season I don't think I saw any missing studs yet (550hp+ and let them rip a few times). There were a few where the area around the stud looks like an impact crater, must be moving around alot. I used these in freezing rain and other icy conditions and it was obvious the studs were very good for uphill ice and stopping downhill on ice. I've had blizzaks on an escape, tundra and 4runner and they are great, but agree the tread life is pretty low vs running a LT tire 50K miles. Blizzaks feel like a summer tire in summer, but in the rain/snow/etc. and I think makes it superior for general usage on vehicles for the family/spouse. For the Tundra, if using the stock tire size where a Blizzak DMV2 is available, definitely worth considering. For more truck applications offroading/higher miles/higher loads I think Nokian (LT or not, studded or unstudded) is more ideal. I considered studding Duratracs but glad I didn't after testing in packed snow and rain, studded Duratracs would be good for a 35/37" Jeep in offroad snow though.

Haven't driven this truck in the snow and I'm interested to see how it handles. I only go up to the mountains a few times a year in the winter to go skiing, but in CA they require you to carry chains in chain areas. The manual says chains don't fit the larger wildpeaks due to clearance. I have the 3" lift so I'd guess I have the clearance, has anyone put chains on 35x12.5 r18 tires?

Meh. I was thrown off. Both are black aftermarket wheels. Yaboy has replica black wheels. Someone mentioned an Edmonton company. I posted the link to “replika” wheels.

All else equal, a highway all season like the Michelin Defender LTX or Michelin AgilisCrossClimate will be better than an all terrain tire on snow/ice over pavement.
